Gift was purchased on Registry and Never Arrived

Hi folks, would love your suggestions. We're getting married 6/14. A guest bought a Bissel hand vacuum off our Knot universal registry at the beginning of May. We had a bunch of gifts purchased at that time, and so I went through the list of gifts purchased and made to do list of thank you notes for my fiance and I. We were busy with wedding planning, and I just realized I sent the thank you note for the hand vac but it never arrived (I know I should have waited till it arrived before sending the thank you, oops). I had the order number, so I reached out to the seller (Target), and they said it was placed as a pick up order and no one picked it up so the order was cancelled.

What to do now? If the guest accidentally placed it as a pick up order and thinks we have it, then I'd think they'd want to know about the mix up. But maybe they planned to pick it up and bring it to the wedding (they are local), or changed their mind and intentionally let the order go unpicked up and cancelled. Thoughts?

  • That's a tough one since you already sent a thank you note. I guess you could contact them and explain your faux pas then tell them about it not showing up and why. I'm assuming if they didn't pick it up, they weren't charged for it.
