Back to routine - the kids’ summer arts camp began today (just until 12:30) and my school’s Extended School Year started as well.  I’m very excited about my role- I applied to be a per diem Counselor (my first MSEd was in School Counseling and I actually worked as a guidance counselor for six years before making the switch to Special Ed). The per diem piece is nice bc there are only around 15 students in the ESY program who have mandated counseling services, so in addition to doing something I haven’t done in a while and miss, it’s also a pretty flexible schedule.  I’m just…excited for this ☺️

ExH is off on Tuesdays and is allegedly seeing the kids a bit later? I hope it happens and they see him consistently this summer, they deserve some consistency with him.

Nice to see you @mrsconn23, so thrilled you found a job with a good fit. I also, cannot believe he’s 1. I remember the day you told us that your son was going to be a father! Eeeek.
Awesome role for you too @ei34. Keeping my fingers crossed ex shows up too.

i’ve been having tooth pain on and off but a lot “on” this weekend. My dentist got me in today to get a looksie. I always had a gap between my last two molars but I think I had some shifting or even a chip. Hopefully we can schedule a fix before the holiday.  I also need an oil change, so that’s my working lunch hour.
I came home yesterday from the movies (Megan 2.0. Don’t see it. It’s stupid. Oh, you weren’t going to anyway? Good on you) and my garage was open but just slightly. Enough to roll under it? So the clearing of the codes didn’t work. There’s a keyhole/lock on it, but I don’t think I was given keys for it when I moved in. I’m going to have to
get a locksmith out or maybe my parents can put a new lock on when they get here at the end of the month. I can’t leave my garage unlocked and ready to have someone open it, even if it is an innocent signal mixing issue.

Kiddos had fun with gma and gpa yesterday. They went to the pool most of the afternoon! I think today is some combo of library/park/pool. Possibly mini golf or  a movie sometime this week too. Busy busy week at work but squeezing in lunch with my work bff today so looking forward to that!

The fence people are out here.  Hopefully they get this finished today, because I am reaching the end of my patience with my mother's constant complaining about the fence.  I'm 10000% sure the business is tired of hearing from her too.

Nothing too much going on.  Hopefully I get to see a friend tomorrow.  Right now I'm just trying to get through things for the week and when I'm gone.  The internet service is maxed out, so I've been reading a lot in the evenings, rather than watching TV.  That's been nice, but I really want to get back to work on my book nook which I like to do in front of the TV.  I don't think I can listen to a podcast and work on the nook, both require too much focus to follow.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

It's been a challenging few days with DH. He's been moody, and having a conversation with him is like walking through a minefield. Today seems better (so far).

Work is...unsettling. A major reorganization is happening in our area. And, though we've been told there are no plans to reduce effort on our team, nothing is for sure. With the current federal cuts to research, many institutions struggle to make up that revenue. Not to mention the slowing of substantial research into new drugs and treatments. Ugh

We have no big plans for the holiday weekend. We're hoping to get together with friends we haven't seen in a while, but we'll see how that works out.

Work today. Squish seemed okay this morning. I think the true test will be when the 24 hr anti emetic wears off. We fed him a small amount last night and no vomiting, and he seemed his normal happy self so that’s good. Friggen cats, man. Look the wrong way and they cost you $1000. The other vet was very kind and kept Delilah overnight for free so we could focus on Squish which was so nice of them.

Otherwise, SSDD. I actually feel okay today. Poor H is still overwhelmed and is really struggling emotionally. I gently brought up restarting medication and therapy again because it’s been really rough.

I still think we’re going to chill at home this weekend. We still have a decent amount of plans for July (dad’s bday, BIL bday, SIL Bday) although we’ll probably only do 2 out of those three possible events. At least it’s calmer than June.

Congrats on the new job! @mrsconn23

yay for the new role! @ei34

@MNNEBride all of the hugs. I found a resource the other day I’m going to share with my mother. My dad is clearly rapidly declining with vascular dementia and grandma is really starting to decline quickly as well and she’s taking things really hard. The content creator’s name is Adriana Thompson and I think her Tik Tok username is belightcare. She recently did a 30 day series on dementia which I liked. I’m sure you’re familiar with a lot of her education points but it might be helpful. She addresses topics like dementia related aggression, refusal to shower, etc in a really compassionate way both towards the caregivers and the person with the dementia.

@levioosa thanks for that info.  I may ask my mom to get on social media as the caregiver for my dad.

  • Congratulations @mrsconn23! Glad you found a job that was a good fit. Hope to see you around more often now. Geez can't believe the baby is 1 already!

Hope the fixes are not to painful @CharmedPam. Congratulations on the job for the summer @ei34.

Nothing exciting going on around here. I contacted my gyn yesterday to go back on HRT. I've been having A LOT of hot flashes. They interfere with my sleep in addition to being a hassle during the day. I also am wondering if being off of it has added to the pain I've been having. It still hurts to walk or stand for any length of time. I've been doing my exercises religiously. I was on the very lowest dosage so I don't know if it will really help, but I'm so over it all. I hate not being able to get all my regular cardio exercise in because my hip hurts.

We are staying pretty low key for the 4th but are heading to Chicago Monday to help with the boys.

We do not have 4th plans either.  With DH feeling off it's going to be seat of the pants plans if any are made.    I pick up Chiquita Thursday afternoon and may look for places where there are fireworks around.

Adriana Thompson is also on Insta at @belightcare.  I can't do TikTok, it becomes a timessink.
