Dear Prudence,

Like everyone else with taste, I’m in love with New York City and I’m visiting during the last two weeks of October. But I don’t want it to be just your run-of-the-mill itinerary.

As a diehard romantic, I want to meet someone in NYC in an incredibly spontaneous way when I visit, but I don’t know how. I’m worried I might come across as desperate or like I’m trying to force a connection. In my heart of hearts, I genuinely think I have taste; can pick up on what and how anyone is feeling; and can show a nice lady some nice chemistry, good conversation, and great company. How do I find her?

If you’re rich and/or amazing in bed, she’ll be along the High Line near 24th Street, you’ll eat at Pepe Giallo’s followed by a scenic walk. She’s 41 but looks 38 tops…hopefully won’t have three tweens in tow 😂 

Kidding. LW you’re putting a lot of pressure on yourself.  Try to enjoy your vacation regardless of who you meet!

It'll be a rainy afternoon and the skies will open.  Head to the West 4th Subway station.  Between the flooded station and the rats, she'll be holding onto the rails clinging to hope her shoes don't flood with the contaminated water....

Sounds like you’re putting a lot of pressure on the trip. Just enjoy the city and be yourself, authentic connections often come when you’re not forcing them. Let New York be the source of the spontaneity you’re hoping for.
