    Phew, this week has been a whirlwind

    Our pool’s final Family Fun Night of the year is this evening.  Probably more pool fun tomorrow, a bbq on Sunday (I’m trying a new blueberry scone recipe), and prep cooking and more swimming on Monday.
  • I am exhausted, but I am moved.  I'm mostly unpacked too, so that's good.  I did have to move my out of town trip to tomorrow morning.  I was just so exhausted last night, the thought of trying to pack to go out of town was just the step too much.  I didn't sleep great just because of having to get used to the noise of a new place and Harley is feeling stressed so way fussy all night, but when I did sleep, it was solid.  And just having a quiet morning in my own space again was excellent.  Most of my bosses are out on vacation, so I'm hoping for a quiet day that will let my arms and hands rest b/c they are sore and swollen.  Downing water b/c I have not been good about that for the last few days.

    I think I'll be happy here.  My good friend who lives in the complex came up to visit.  We were laughing, b/c I'll be damned if I don't feel like I'm living in a dorm again.  Maybe it'll give me a shot of youthful energy.  :)

    I get to see my BFF tomorrow and have my group of soul friends all together tomorrow.  It will be so good for me, I'm excited.

  • @VarunaTT I'm so so glad for you that you are comfortable again in your own space.
    @banana468 happy birthday Chiquito!
    @ei34 enjoy the pool :)

    Our nephew's 2nd bday party is tomorrow afternoon - 3pm for kids party...whyyyyyy...worst time of a weekend day for under 6's. The boys picked out a set of giant (like 1 foot tall) dinosaurs to give him. My parents are coming Sunday afternoon into Monday for a short visit. Might try to get to the pool one last time before the season ends! Although the weather has been very fallish this week so may be chilly. Other than that just trying to get as much done around the house as we can - landscaping, painting, etc etc.

  • We are having the best time in Toronto. M loved the dinosaurs, room service, and a king bed. He even slept on his side most of the night. We’re doing the aquarium today (and hopefully a stop at the Lululemon outlet for me!) before heading home tonight. Heading to camp for the day tomorrow then taking it easy Sunday and Monday. Tuesday M has kindergarten orientation (from 2-3 in the afternoon- which who in the world does that work for).

    Is this a new thing @casadena? We’ve had three birthday parties this year all on Sunday- two starting at 3pm, one at 4pm. This is possibly the worst time for little kid parties, why are we doing this??
  • I remember lamenting the start time of events.   Years ago one Easter we flat out said that we weren't showing up when they asked because 2 PM was nap time and I'd rather face the wrath of cold food than the grumpy non napper.  Maybe these are kids who do early naps??  The people I knew who put their kids to bed early because they were early risers may have graduated to a nap that ended at 2 so the 3 PM start time would be perfect for THEM.  But my kids were in bed around 8 so it was AWFUL.   I learned to love the morning birthday party and even better - the exit from planning around naptime.

    The WORST is the school stuff that happens mid work day and you have to ask....what do your TEACHERS do for their kids? Why are you scheduling things knowing we have to burn PTO for basic things?  And as my kids age, I'm grateful I WFH because the camps that start at 9 and end at 1 are  THRILL I tell you.
