My body is getting used to standing for seven hours a day.  Oh middle age.

The state has a new law that no phones are permitted in school.  They can physically bring the phones to school but they have to be in lockers all day (including lunch period).  We were anxious about how the transition would go, but so far, so good.

@ei34 What grades are in your school?  This would be really interesting at the HS level where the phones are used as communication methods (like, for sports to dismiss the kids for early busses.)

Chiquita has her phone written into her medical 504 plan both to reach out to me as needed but also to document evidence of possible flares for her GI team.  I haven't read the NYS law and hope those are covered.

My little guy turned 11 over the weekend and we celebrated at the ball park!

  • I think locking them up and using them for emergencies is a good idea @ei34

last night’s sleep was brutal. I had a cricket (or whatever makes a chirping noise non stop) RIGHT at my window. It was the same thing as an alarm going off but this one I couldn’t shut off. Finally, at 1 I had to move to the couch and finally fell asleep. It better not happen tonight. I sometimes hear them in the distance, and I’m able to sleep but this one was right at the window. It’s been awhile since I had to move to the couch.
Two cup o joe’s for me!

I slept HARD last night. it felt good but i'm a bit groggy today. Have a morning of work in the office and then a couple days of forced "fun" at our division meeting downtown. Staying overnight tonight and then getting home late tomorrow night.

@charlotte989875 good luck to M (and you!) today - hope it all goes well :)

The crickets are so noisy this time of year @CharmedPam !!
@banana468 it’s an 8-12 school. There’s a medical exemption for students who have 504’s stating they need to record health data on a particular app. And it’s only in place from the start and end of the school day, academic periods. Students may have them during after school activities for pickups/late busses etc.

Got it.  Chiquita has her exemption to keep it on her or in her backpack and not in one of the locked areas.

Interestingly enough - while the school HAS lockers, students don't use them.  Chiquita can't even get hers open!

I cannot figure out what day it is ever this week.  That's okay, I suppose.  I've been grinding my butt off, trying to catch up.  Doing a decent enough job.  I made a pretty big inroad into what I'm behind on.  After I get back from break, I'll work ahead a bit, with easy stuff, until it's time to log off.

Supposed to go to my mother's tonight to grab some more things, but I'm exhausted since I logged on early.  Otherwise, SSDD.

I know this is an important accommodation for T1 diabetic kids also.  Nowadays, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) are usually set up to send data and...even more important, alarms for low or high blood sugars...to a person's phone.

  • Trump had an interview with CNN yesterday about which high crime, liberal Democratic city he's going to move the National Guard into next.  Chicago or New Orleans.  I'm going to guess the answer is "both"

But he was mainly salivating over New Orleans.  It's a love fest whenever the Louisiana governor (Jeff Landry) or Trump talk about each other.  The super blue NOLA has ALWAYS been a thorn in the side for the rest of the super red state.  I'm sure Gov. Landry is ordering ticker tape and red carpets in bulk for their arrival.  He thinks that "heathen" city of New Orleans needs to be "taught a lesson" even more than Trump does,

It would be far cheaper and more effective to give the woefully inadequate NOPD a bigger budget to hire/retain more officers.

But then it's not really about crime is it?  It's about punishment.  There are a lot of cities with a higher crime rate than NOLA.  But it's tough to beat the Democratic stronghold of this city, where 83% of the population voted for Harris., And he might have a fight with the governors of other states, instead of being welcomed with open arms.

What kind of dictatorship bullshit is this?
