Mean Girls/ Taylor Swift

Happy Mean Girls Day/ Taylor Swift launch/ fall Friday to all who celebrate.

Re: Mean Girls/ Taylor Swift

  • M’s first field day was excellent. We went to a farm, her rode a pony, did a wagon ride, picked out pumpkins, pet barn animals, went on a massive inflatable jump pad, big slides. He fell asleep on the way home.

First foray into meeting kindergarten parents and definitely an interesting mix. Some straight up criticizing the teacher while on the field trip with him. I won’t be sad if M doesn’t want to do play dates with those kids.

I learned as a parent to take a BIG step back and observe as my kids got into school both to see the educators and also how the parents react.

There were a few teachers who approached us for issues and one I flat out disagreed with.  She also didn't make it past Christmas as a 2nd grade teacher so I felt like my assessment was correct.   But the parents who have nothing but snark were generally those I found to stay away from.
  • @charlotte989875, glad your field day was a success. I’m not sporty or athletic so I never liked those. Fanfares and schoolastic days, yes.
my local news is already featuring people’s haunted houses to go visit and I’m happy! However, I don’t have many weekend nights to go visit them.
charity event was fun. Not AS fun as previous years and the lady in our group won a golf outing at a silent auction, but was really PO’d that they didn't have the gift certificate in hand for her and said they’d email it to her. She didn’t like that. I bid on a necklace/earring set and won! It was $25 more than retail value, but it went to charity so I didn’t care on this one. Usually I’m one to find the deals. All the deals! The picture doesn't do it justice , it’s pink which is the theme because it started as a breast cancer awareness charity but then just spanned to charity and kindness in general. i don’t normally wear pink but I will to find a place to wear these to (and hopefully before next year)!

My body finally started this period and I feel so much better that it's almost crazy feeling.  Just stop already, the 4-56 month interval is annoying AF.

I have a few errands to run.  Amazon returns are getting annoying.  It used to just be "go to a UPS store' and I could fit it into errands.  Now, it's "go to THIS UPS  store" or Staples.  I'm going to try my Staples returns this afternoon, in hopes that I don't have to stand in a store long line.  Then a few errands to sell my comic book collection and some games.

Tomorrow we're going to see One Battle After Another and get my couch moved upstairs.  Sunday is nothing, hopefully.  I might go see The Smashing machine, since my regular movie partner doesn't want to go to that.  Otherwise just regular chores and getting ready to go see Garbage on Monday!  I'm really excited.  I was going to let the concert tickets go, but the band announced that they're not touring North America after this circuit, so I'm going.

    Otherwise, SSDD.

ETA:  Hahahahah, I'd fix it, but 4-56 month interval is too funny.

I love this approach- and pretty much why I did. The teacher is pretty laid bad, letting kids explore safely. And some parents were NOT having it. Like asking what all the kids were wearing, snarking about how he was not paying attention. This is not a big farm. Like very small farm. And there were at least 8 parent volunteers. So yah if I was watching a few kids, and he looked over every few minutes I don’t feel we needed to discuss that in depth. It was a wild day.
  • Tonight, I will do some errands and pick up dinner. Tomorrow will be sleeping in, laundry and cleaning my office workspace. We are taking two of DH's sisters to visit their half-sister for her birthday on Sunday. It's a 3-hour drive, so it'll be a long day. Then I teach confirmation in the evening.

PT is going well. My back is definitely better, but not yet 100%. Next week, I have two sessions, but then I will transition to one time per week.  They have been doing a combination of dry needling, cupping, soft tissue work and home exercises.

  • My ass is getting handed to me at work. And they just told me last minute I'm moving to another department. On Tuesday. I have charted nothing this morning, I had to have some really hard conversations with patients and I'm ready for a drink but I have work and a 7 am Pap Smear (for myself) tomorrow. Ugh.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!
