Prudie Day

Wishing all a smooth day.

@levioosa I hope easing into your new-old job is going okay

Re: Prudie Day

  • Happy Friday eve! I Went to trivia last night. A smaller group than normal but fun. Kind of annoying that a girl in our group came back from South Africa and wanted to show us her entire vacation album on her phone between answering questions. It was interesting but we didn’t need a ton of videos and pics. Maybe “favorite” a few of them and show us some of them in the downtime but let me just say this: No one is interested in your vacation pictures as much as you are. We stayed 5th out of 11 the entire time, so not bad but worse than we normally do.

Back to sunny skies here and glorious fall weather - it was in the 40s when I woke up and not getting out of the 50s.  It does remind me that I have to have a piece of my boiler fixed though.

The kids' school play this year is Moana and all three are trying out after school today. I told them we'd go straight to the nearby Panera (a rare treat) afterwards which we are all looking forward to.
  • It's a much  more crisp fall day here too!  So of course my 11 yo is still in shorts.
There were tears.  Serious tears, blanket over head, just total devastation here last night when the Yankees lost.  Poor kid thought that there was something he could do with  his clothing, wearing the right jersey, hoodie, hat, rally cap.  Hopefully there's another year out there for him.

It was moving to see how much he had wrapped up internally.  Like, how much he just LOVES them.

Need to move onto realistic things now like just knowing that the Giants and Jets have no hope.
  • Lol the superstition of sports. But poor little guy. My cousin used to be the same way about the Dodgers (tbh he probably still is, lol).

I am tired. I volunteered to come into work an hour early again today. I was feeling it this morning when I woke up at five. I found out yesterday my work bff is leaving for what seems to be much greener pastures. I don't blame him. They have yanked him around and voluntold him to do extra tasks that he never wanted to do. He has been such an amazing support system and he's such a great provider it's truly a loss to us. He was also (from what I have gathered over the years) the only peer I had here who is progressive minded. Most of the other providers fall firmly into the Cheeto category and it made me feel a lot less alone having him around. We'd stop each other in the halls, "did you see this?!" "Yeah! Did you see this?!" Also with him leaving, there's going to be a huge void in Primary Care again. I can already see my future, and it's being pulled back over into Primary Care after 2-4 months, right as I'm starting to get comfortable in the new area.

Otherwise, weather has been much nicer, and it sounds like most of the family is going to come to the Oktoberfest party we're having in a few weeks which we're looking forward to and it should be so much fun.

  • I had a rough Tuesday and an even rougher Wednesday!  But I knew it would be.  I got my flu shot, plus THREE vaccinations after work on Tues.  Covid booster, 1st shingles shot, and pneumonia.  They put two shots in each arm. Oof!  But now it's done.  Yay!  Except I need to get the 2nd shingles shot within the next 2-6 months.

The timing was strategic.  I WFH on Wednesdays and knew it would be physically easier if I didn't have to leave the house.

I could barely use my arms yesterday.  I also felt "meh" and my whole body was achy.  I found out on Tues. that you're not supposed to take NSAIDs (ibuprofen or naproxen) for an entire week after getting the flu shot because it can potentially make the shot less effective.  What!?!?  Blow to morale.  In desperation, I looked it back up on Wed.  Supposedly acetaminophen is okay at least 6 hours after the shot.  We don't use acetaminophen as an OTC pain reliever in my house and I almost sent my H to the store.

But then I remembered that's one of the main active ingredients in Dayquil/Nyquil cough medicine, which also lists it helps minor aches and pains.  Bingo!  We do have that in the house and I started feeling a lot better within an hour of taking it.

My arms are still sore today, but are better.  Thankfully I also finally feel good, except for that.

  • @levioosa I hope you can catch a break soon.  Your job has been so difficult for so long.  Big hugs.

Y'all -- my mother apologized!!  I was stunned when the text came through.  And it was a genuine, proper apology.  She also said, Tell that cat I miss her.  I was looking around wondering WTF happened and if I should go buy a lottery ticket.  I don't know why or how it all came about, but I'm not digging on this one, I'll take it at face value as long as she continues to respect my boundaries.

Otherwise, SSDD.  Our software system goes down today at 5 and is down all day tomorrow too.  I have nothing else outstanding to do that doesn't require that system, so I'll have my mouse jiggler on and be watching movies all day and working on the few remaining things in the apartment.  I'm officially tired of moving/building stuff.  I still have the room divider, my computer, and my floating shelves and I'll be finished.

I'm pretty sure my complex manager dislikes me already.  I messaged her to say, "Hey, I'm paying for the 1G package...my speeds are hovering around half that".  Being maybe 20 feet away from the wireless router shouldn't be halving my speed.  I also check my rent statement (I swear to all that is holy, the new renting system of nickel and diming me to death is so annoying JUST PUT IT IN THE RENT) and had to have her fix that.  Ma'am.  I'm 48, not 22, I check on things.

You know it's bad when the Saints just had their first win of the season against the Giants.

But I do commiserate.  The season has barely started and there is clearly no hope for the Saints either.

  • I’m still getting caught up on this weeks updates. Work has.. yet again… continued to be chaos. I told my work bff if a decision is made on a big project, after I explicitly explained (in writing) what the implications would be- that I’m out. I’m not sticking around for the massive negative impact it would have on

It’s cool and sunny here- perfect fall weather! A day got the job at my company!
  • So in the latest of 'parenting a 6th grader' I now have the pleasure of directing my husband to explain to our son why "ThroatGOAT" is an inappropriate name to pick for a computer program in his 6th grade social studies class.....because he legit doesn't understand.

So....I took tampon how-to  this year and really feel like he can get this one.
