Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Y'all! We just had a few neighbors over last night. They left around 11:00. H and I put away food and went to bed. We were awake at midnight so kiss, roll over and go to sleep.

@ei34 per yesterday's post. I am very sad about Tatiana Schlossberg too. JFK Jr and I were the same age and my best friend in elementary school shared a birthday with him (and thought she would marry him lol). I have always felt a connection to the family. I was too young to actually remember JFK's assassination but sure remember RFK"S. That family has so much sadness. I pray for Tatiana's family especially those two young children.

Happy New Year. I almost forgot our tradition of Chinese food on new year’s day until a friend of mine posted she was doing it.
Anyone else eat Chinese food on eve/day? (It’s always been tradition in our family on new years day)

We always do pork, greens and black eyed peas (I am from the south). I have changed the greens from collards to spinach. This year we had pinto beans instead of black eyed peas. I forgot to check to see if we had any - nope. I would love Chinese but we don't have any good Chinese restaurants around anymore. They are all the fast food type and not very good.

I’m feeling the same way about our area too. And I’m in the Chicago burbs. I have like 2 places that are good around me.  Technicality I did Thai because they had my favorite dish. Eggplant stir fry, which is becoming harder and harder to find. Oh and mango sweet rice. Yum!

Ugh yes @ILoveBeachMusic, just really sad

I don’t have any traditional NYE/NYD foods, but I know that I am in the minority with that.
  • I have broken the generational curse of being forced to eat black eyed peas on New Year's Day.   Otherwise, I don't have any other traditions.
