First Friday in January

Anyone else working? I had a bunch of duds on NYE. We went to pinstripes to play a round of bocce and have dinner and they had a really cool new years countdown party. We went up at 11, but no one wanted to stay. No one feeling it, I guess? 11 people and just me and one other would have stayed. We left at 11:15 and I was home by 11:30 to watch the countdown myself. My parents were partying at a casino/hotel. Next year I’ll just tag along with them if I want to see midnight with people.
I also scheduled yesterday to be my cleaning day but my friend reminded me “remember, no cleaning today!” I NEVER heard of that so I googled. Laundry and cleaning is a superstition that says it’s bad luck and you’re sweeping fortune and loved ones away. Eff that noise. My company is being sold sometime in January. I’ll keep walking on all those ritz cracker crumbs if it means keeping luck my way.

What?! I clean every day lol.
Sorry that the plans didn’t work out as you’d hoped @CharmedPam

Doing some cooking / baking for tomorrow, we’ll be celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday!
  •  I was raised that you don't do laundry on New Year's Day because that means you will be doing laundry for someone who passes sometime during the next year. I know it is a ridiculous superstition, but I hear my mother saying that (in my mind, she's been gone almost 23 years) every year. I just make sure I'm all caught up on laundry by NYE. I can assure you that my children do not adhere to that superstition. Other cleaning is fine.
