Back to reality Monday

...and totally dragging.  How's everyone?

Re: Back to reality Monday

  • I’m glad to be in the office for some regular life to begin but apparently we’re just going to work from home the rest of the week.
I also bought Lainey Wilson tickets yesterday! Woot. Ticketmaster was sold out so I had to go resale for it. Probably paid 3x the amount but still worth it for me. Other than that, just trying to plan my 2026. Less big travel. More small road trips.

I went on an antibiotic for a bad sinus infection on 12/23, felt incredible while on it, final day was Friday, and since yesterday morning am totally congested again.  Going to wait another day or two to see if it's just a bizarrely timed cold or if it's the return of the same sinus infection. (If that's possible?)

The winter break was a mixed bag.  We rested under fleece blankets, lots of low and slow cooking most days, some nice board games, movies, and baking with the kids, very few plans.  Hygge vibes and it felt great.  Oldest DD, who's been in counseling since summer 2021, is definitely going through a mental health flare up.  Panic attacks so intense that she didn't sleep hours each night.  Refusing to eat anything she had to chew.  Just lots of interference with every day life things.  She'd been in maintenance mode in counseling from Sept-Dec, but I've moved it back to weekly for the time being.  I'm trying to get a referral to a psychiatrist, maybe she needs more.  I'm so stressed and just want her to feel well. So far so good today though, I had to pick her up from school early twice leading up to the break, and I was partially expecting a call from school at like 10am today.  Fingers crossed she can make it through and is okay.

With the exception of the Nativity set, which stays out until the Epiphany tomorrow, the home is completely de-Christmas'ed.  Love the holiday decor but it feels good to have it back to normal too.
  • We are still as decorated as ever.  I really like it and also don't want to take it down because of the effort.  With the week turning into what it is I may start to do some ornament removal on the trees but the big overhaul won't be until Sunday afternoon.

I worked a few days after Christmas and Friday so this is not feeling nearly as back to the grind for me as it is for the rest of the house.  I am also not feeling optimistic about the flu and norovirus right now so I am just kind of holding my breath.  Chiquita is in a music festival this weekend and those can be super spreader events for respiratory viruses.  I'm crossing fingers and toes!
  • It's nice to be back to a schedule today.  DH woke up with a bug on Sunday morning: a headache, cough, and upset stomach.  I hope it's just a 24-to 48-hour issue.  I am picking up a COVID-19/flu test this afternoon, as he has some testing scheduled for Wednesday morning, and we'd need to reschedule if he tests positive. Fingers crossed that I don't catch it.

  • @ei34, I was on an antibiotic in Nov for an ear infection. It cleared up most of it, butI still had some issues. My medically inclined friend said the majority of people require 2 rounds of an antibiotic to work. I hate what it does to my body, so I just waited the thing out. Better now!

Stay safe from those nasty viruses!

  • Ugh it was such a rough reintroduction to the work world today! I could not remember my password and had to call out help desk to get it reset before 9am.
  • @ei34 I'm so sorry your DD is struggling now. I hope that the increased therapy sessions will help and if not she can get into a psychiatrist. Prayers for you and her. @banana468 hope the viruses stay away. Healing vibes to your H @MNNEBride.

I have most of the house deChristmasfied. My nativities are still up (I collect small ones when we travel), as are the tree and banister garland. The garland is on my list for today after I have my MRI. I might start on the tree and hopefully finish it but we will see. H will have to help me (I usually do it by myself) so it will depend on what he is doing. I want to have everything done by this weekend so that we can start packing for Chicago. I would actually leave stuff up if we weren't leaving next weekend. I like the lights during this dreary time of year.
