Freezing Cold Monday now

Working from home today because of another day of below zero temps. Weekend was a mixed bag. I slept a LOT again. I usually need ambien to sleep and now I just need boring TV a warm room. But I keep dozing off without intending to. I had 8 people signed up for trivia on Saturday night but the weather (it was lightly snowing, nothing bad. My area only got 1” total in the 12+ hours of snow we had) scared 5 ladies off. Still had fun with 3, even though we failed terribly.

Re: Freezing Cold Monday now

  • We hibernated Friday night and Saturday.  I did a few things around the house, but mostly vegged and watched TV.  We watched everything but the news.  The situation here in MN is so heavy.  Another death at the hands of ICE.  There are spots of joy as the community comes together to support those who are afraid to leave their homes to get groceries and other essential items.  Thousands are showing up in below-zero temperatures to protest, and folks are coming together for vigils.

Sunday, I went to worship and brought groceries for our part of a community support effort.  We had our annual business meeting afterwards.  Came home, prepped for the work week, and picked up around the house as the cleaning service comes today.  DH and I both took a long nap, and then I returned to church to teach confirmation.

It was only -10 degrees as I waited for the shuttle bus today.  Usually, there is one loading and another right behind it when I pull in the parking lot.  Today, there wasn't a bus there when I pulled in, so I stayed in the car until it came.  But it was a small shuttle and it filled before I got on.  I waited in line for the next bus for 10 mins.  I wasn't dressed as warmly as I had been on Friday and felt it!

  • Weekend was nice - had lunch with SIL/BIL and their kiddos and other SIL got engaged! FBIL is great and i'm super happy for them. Had a super early meeting this morning and was out of the house before anyone else woke up. Definitely feeling it as both boys were up multiple times last night. Hoping to duck out a bit early and sneak a short cat nap before I pick up kiddos.

Pizza for dinner already ordered for pickup.
  • We went to the twins' basketball game on Saturday. This league is awful - they don't draft teams so coaches get to pick who their players are and when teams are creaming the other team they don't back off. Com'on guys these are 2nd graders not NBA! How are boys who are just starting to play learn? Afterwards we went back to the apartment and stayed in until this morning. Our area got about 4 inches of snow. We weren't sure how the roads were so didn't go to church. I basically was stir crazy. We did binge watch 11/22/63. I read the book years ago (only Stephen King book I've read) but couldn't remember any details. We really liked it. H is a big SK fan.

This morning we went to the Y. It felt so good to work out after 4 days of not doing so - I never do that unless I'm sick. We had appointments with the realtor so Thursday and Friday we didn't make it and the cold kept us in the rest of the time. We need to toughen up! At home at least I have an elliptical in my basement so if I'm housebound I can still workout. One of the things I'm realizing is if we move to an area without a Y I'm really going to miss it.
  • Theres no school tomorrow too and...I fear we may all start to get a little punchy.

Vibes your way @MNNEBride, it's horrifying and heartbreaking to watch, I can only imagine it being your backyard.  Stay safe <3
Ugghh leagues / teams like that are gross @ILoveBeachMusic.  So uncalled for, especially at that age.
    Good luck today @banana468!
  • Heartbreaking what’s happening here in America and especially MN. :(
