With a skipped hump day post!
I have a work volunteer thing today that NONE of us are happy about. It’s at a school and we have to do some sort of financial reenactment for them on how to save/spend money.
Now, if anyone follows me here - I’m not the greeeeeeeatest  with budgets and money. So I should be the last one showing children how to do it.
“I should put my last $100 towards food”.
“No. That’s what ramen noodles are for. Put it towards the new Lancôme skincare line. Do it. Doooooo it. Your 40 year old self will thank me later”.
And to top it all off, I leave at 11.30 and my meds will be delivered at noon, so I can’t even go home to bring them in. Worst delivery day to do it.

Good luck @CharmedPam! What grade are the students?

I had a personal day yesterday, I was volunteering at my kids' school, helping out with their show's preview day, or else I would've started a Wednesday chat.

It's been months in the making but the kids' musical opens tonight- Moana is coming to their middle school stage.  They're nervous, they're excited, I'm feeling all the feels with them.  The running joke among the parents and teachers is that it feels more like Frozen than Moana.  Forget spring weather, I'd be happy for the 20s or 30s right now.  The single digits ain't it.  The good news is that we were supposed to have more snow this Sunday but now allegedly we're not.
  • 6th grade @ei34. I’m going to financially ruin their life! Moana sounds so cute! Good luck to them!

Moana sounds so fun! Had dinner with a friend last night and I'm feeling the wine a bit this morning. I'll post Prudie shortly.

    @CharmedPam - good luck!
@ei34 - Break a leg to your kiddos and their show.

I had my cataract testing and evaluation yesterday afternoon.  The first one is scheduled next Tuesday, and the second one on February 20th.  It'll be good to get it done.  I'm looking forward to getting new, fun glasses.

Last night, I was in bed reading when I heard a loud clunk.  I immediately thought DH had fallen, but it didn't exactly sound like that.  I checked, and he was sleeping, and so was the cat.  It almost sounded like something had knocked into a downspout on the house.  I checked the backyard camera and saw 6 deer jostling for the feeders.  One had been on the deck, and another head butted it, and it fell over with a big sound, but then got up and walked away.  Crazy

@ei34 it's Newsies weekend here.  Break a leg to your kids!  Chiquito is in it and Chiquita is helping to student direct and I'm making bags for wishes and kisses.

Big round of applause to perimenopause for the insomnia the last two nights.  I desperately need to sleep well tonight.

The plow took out our mailbox so now we need to go to the post office to pick up our mail.  What a PITA!  Luckily it's on the way to the high school so I can make pit stops as needed.
  • Slow morning here. We did a virtual weight workout with our trainer this morning. Now trying to decide if we are going to the Y for cardio. Meeting with the realtor this afternoon to see some more houses. Last night we went to an Italian restaurant in Evanston. It was very good. I had a delicious roasted beet salad with citrus, goat cheese and pistachios along with tagliatelle bolognese. H had their sea bass on a bed of veggies and butternut squash soup which he thoroughly enjoyed.

    Yay for theater performances!

@ei34 what age are you giving the presentation too? Maybe do an interactive presentation where you ask kids to make 3-5 goals ranging from long term to short term and then talk about strategies and putting money aside for it? I'm not the best person either with money but I feel like that would be a lot more engaging than talking about retirement (if that's what the school is angling for), which is honestly such a nebulous concept to most people until you're like 25.

Week is okay. H's interview didn't go very well and he's being pretty hard on himself about it. It was a position he would be fantastic in, and something he has a passion for, and he's actually overqualified for it so he was really upset when he did poorly on the actual interview. I think we need to do some emergency mental health triaging for him because he said at one point they asked him a question and all he could think about was nationwide and worldwide news and how shallow and pedantic it felt to be asked about sales and marketing experience and it made him stumble over answering the question in a quick witted way. I get it. I want to scream every day thinking about everything and then just getting ready and driving to work like somehow things are just normal.

Otherwise, SSDD here. I keep debating on making beef stroganoff for dinner. Mostly because I don't want to cook...but I also want a hot homecooked meal so my math isn't mathing here. lol.
