Thank you @ei34!  The cat woke me up with a birthday song, DH gave me cards, I'm teaching virtually this morning, and then cataract surgery this afternoon.  Big day lol.

Great Wolf Lodge was nice, but it always feels good to be back home. Bonus was we returned home to the sight of grass! Hadn’t seen my lawn in over a month, but a string of a few days in the 30s finally melted some snow, woohoo. I see you spring lol

Had a well visit with my PCP who I really love earlier today. She ordered some blood work ahead of my follow up in April.
Dog sitting one of my sister’s dogs later- she’s dropping her off around noon and will be with us until tomorrow. Both of my sisters will be away and my parents can’t take both dog granddaughters at their house bc the girls had a small fight last time they were both there and my parents were nervous about a repeat. I like dogs enough but wouldn’t have really volunteered for this, but felt obligated to help out. DS is super excited about it.

  • @ei34 what's your thought on the age range of GW?  They opened one near us and MIL was excited about it but my kids are in 6th and 10th grade.  All the images I see make me think that they're definitely outgrown it.

I have visit wedged in with my gyno in a bit over a week.  I had a cycle 18 days after one and I think another is coming on now.  Is this now just the fun of perimenopause?  The feeling of bloat, inability to lose weight, go up a size in pants and cycles coming so close together there's no phase three of being free and in the clear for intimacy should we have both time to be together and not be sick at the same time?

Weekend may be gross.  Being on the coast it's wintry mix time here and we'll see if any snow falls.  The last regular season fencing meet is tomorrow with a tournament next weekend.

BTW, random plug.  Years ago DH bought me a foot heater for my side of the bed.  It stopped working this season so I bought this and it was delivered yesterday.  In a week where I've felt tired and achy and grump this was a warm hug for my feet as I climbed in bed last night:

  • Happy birthday!!! @MNNEBride Good vibes for the cataract surgery today!

SSDD here. I only have two more weeks at work here and am a little sad about it...but once again I know the chaos would be coming. It will just be a big change in routine.

Wishing everyone a warm, safe, and happy weekend!

Hope the surgery went okay @MNNEBride
@banana468 my kids (two in 5th grade, one in 6th) were at the upper limit of loving it. So I think your son would genuinely enjoy himself, and your daughter would have fun, but is probably a touch older than the target age. I toyed with going to the CT location since it’s so new. Went with PA bc it’s closer, and it was good, but I’ve heard good things about the one near you too.

I've heard good things too!  The concern I have is that MIL seemed really excited about it and I kind of want to put the kibosh on the notion that this would be fun for the oldest kids.  There are 5 grand kids total in age range of nearly 10 to 15.  (15, 13, 11, 11, and 10 in June).  And I think the oldest two girls may have fun because they'd be with family but ultimately they've aged out.
  • Happy Birthday @MNNEBride. Hope the surgery went well and you can enjoy the rest of your weekend.

We had dinner with DD and her family tonight to say good bye for this trip. The youngest thought we were spending the night at his house and Papa could make him Papa eggs (scrambled eggs) for breakfast in the morning. We had to explain to him we were going back to the apartment and wouldn't see him in the morning. He was very sad. The twins have so much on their plate this weekend that I don't think it phased them that we are leaving. We will be back up here in about a month so not a long time until we see them again.

I'm looking forward to getting home but have tons of stuff to do before my surgery on Tuesday. I'll have a bit of laundry and I want to get the whole house cleaned before I go in. I have contacted a cleaning service about cleaning while I'm recovery from this and my back surgery. They assured me they can do it but I haven't gotten any details from them. Hmmmm.

We have church on Sunday and our church book club on Monday so full weekend and beginning of week.

You're absolutely right.  Chiquita and her 13yo cousin would have fun bc they're together, not really bc of anything happening at GWL.
If MIL is wanting a family vacation, would she/you all consider a cruise?

    Hahahahahahaha!

No, we'd never actually go away with her on vacation.

But the GWL is 20 min away from here.  I think she was singing its praises to BIL as a place to take the kids for a fun weekend when they were in town.

There's way too much about MIL's mobility, energy and overall demeanor that make vacation ideas a non starter . I would be looking forward to going back to work.
