Wedding Woes

Tundra Tuesday

I mean, it's not dry or tree-less here, but it certainly feels arctic.  Wishing all a good day!

Another snow day.  I can't imagine we will be home from school again tomorrow though, we went sledding earlier and the main roads were decent.  We ended up with just under 2 feet of snow here, and I'm really glad that the shoveling is behind me.

Oldest's initial appt with the psychiatrist is later today.  I wish that it could be in person but was moved to remote.  I'm hopeful that we will find some answers and at least get some sort of anxiety order diagnosis bc I think a 504 would help her in school.

@ILoveBeachMusic hope the surgery goes okay!
  • Holy Moly - 2 feet of snow is such a hassle to deal with.  Stay safe and enjoy your snow days.

    SSDD here.

I'm hosting our families for a birthday celebration on Sunday for my youngest brother and I.  I'm making chili and have asked folks to bring fixings or something to go with it.  Ordered a Nothin' Bundt Cake (lemon).  The cleaner is coming tomorrow morning so I think we'll be set.

    FX for @ILoveBeachMusic

Got back from vaca. HUGE blowout five days in, so the first 5 we all got “along” (as in S ignored C but we stayed all-together) but then C ran her mouth one night at dinner. Most people brush her “know it all” antics off, but S wasn’t having any of it and challenged her. C cried at the dinner table and ran off. We had two more excursions booked after that, which we all went to - but the tensions were high. And then 2 sea days which we just split up 2 & 2.

I was talking to another friend about it (remember I had written C off during a solo trip last fall. Was going to take her in strides in groups - but never solo again) and she asked if we sat her down to talk about her attitude if it could be fixed. But I think she’s so set in her ways and thinks she’s not in the wrong (uhhh we have many people in meetup backing away from her) that I’m not sure a talk will help. If someone sat you down and told you all the things we didn’t like about your personality - could you change? Or would you be butthurt?
depending on what was said about me, I think I could try to actively change if it was minor stuff (like for example, “you talk too much”) but not major (like “you’re too opinionated and abrupt and rude”).
Anyway, sooooo glad to be drama free till Saturday at least, when we’re all back together. Lol.

Hope everyone in that blizzard is safe and warm and able to get out!
edit; also GO USA!!! (Olympics). I never understood why hockey and basketball used professional players though. Also, if anyone is in PV, sending prayers to you. I know a few Canadians still there or near there and our travel buddy has a sister living there (but was here in the states when the strikes happened).

  • Listening to a 5 hour meeting today. Good info but UGH it's long. Otherwise SSDD.

G starts piano lessons tomorrow and i'm so excited! I really hope he likes it. N starts ice skating next week as well!
  • I'm glad to hear your work up was negative for cancer @VarunaTT. Have you changed anything else about Harley's routine? Maybe try changing out the type of litter to see if that helps?

@CharmedPam I bought a book to read and thought of you. A Haunted History of Invisible Women: True Stories of America's Ghosts. I'm excited to read it. Bummer your vacation didn't go as planned but I know you saw some of the writing on the wall before you even left.

Work has been super crazy here today. Weekend was okay. We didn't do a whole lot on Sunday. Yesterday I ran a million errands and got my hair done. Otherwise, SSDD.

  • Good luck @ei34 to your kiddo!

No school tomorrow.  THREE DAYS IN A ROW.
  • Everyone in the snow areas, stay warm and safe!
@VarunaTT, I hope you feel better soon.
@ei34, good luck with the school for your oldest.

I'm dealing with a weird situation work-wise. My immediate boss suddenly resigned from the firm, probably because of a family emergency, and his boss and I are scrambling to run the department. So I am trying to prove myself in my immediate boss's position. Quite a challenge.

I'm going to a wedding this weekend. The groom is my first cousin's son. My cousin and her family are close to mine because they live locally, and my parents functioned as the grandparents for her kids when they were alive because her parents live in California and don't like to travel here to Texas. The groom is marrying his baby mama up in Texarkana (they have two children; the second one was just born a few months ago). It's going to be an interesting wedding.

Vibes your way @VarunaTT, that all sounds hard.  And good luck with Harley!
I'm not sure I'd travel with her anymore @CharmedPam.  And I'll never understand why professional athletes from the NHL and NBA are allowed to participate in the Olympics.  I'd prefer the Olympics showcase sports that aren't widely broadcasted, but if things like mens' hockey and basketball *have* to be part of the games, it should really be talented athletes who aren't already pros making millions.
