Work should be fairly smooth.  The weekend is blissfully uneventful.  The kids have a school dance tonight and they're so excited- it's a glow dance theme and they're thrilled with their outfits, want to get there a bit early to take pics outside the school with the friends...so fun.
Just music lessons tomorrow morning and the kids are altar serving Sunday morning.  Other than that I'm going to get some reading done, trying a new recipe, some yard work, hopefully bike rides both days...just looking to be a relaxing weekend.
  • Last day of spring vacation!   Chiquita continues the room clean extravaganza and we have a cookie booth later that is hopefully not in the pouring rain.

I'm hoping that her taking charge of her space is the push she's needing to make some serious progress!
  • Happy Friday everyone!

Nothing much to report here. We have a last minute family event on Sunday but they are coming out to us for once which is nice. Unfortunately I had to move my nail appointment to next week which was a bit of a bummer. I wanted the day before our staycation to be relaxing and now I’m going to be running around a lot.

What a week is right! I have a story to share that I was so embarrassed about, but will just incase anyone is thinking about cool sculpting.  I know costs have gone down and some of my own friends were.
I have some bumps on my tummy, and wanted to eliminate some fat under the chin. I have been going to a place to cool sculpt (fat freeze) my abs and face for over a month and no issues. Usually my neck has “suction marks” for like 1 hr after it and it’s gone. They opened up a new location that was more convenient for me so I switched. On Tuesday, I went and got it done. 15 minutes of the cool sculpt on each side of the neck.  The supervisor of the place (maybe a RN?) told me this new location had the upgraded model. It sucks/freezes/massages. And has a state of the art censor that stops working if it gets too cold to avoid frost bite.
I went again on Wednesday. It was a bit longer on one side of my neck. The massaging stopped, but didn't feel out of the ordinary cold or anything. He switched sides @ 20 minutes and i felt my whole side of my mouth go numb, my one side was tingling. He noticed a huge lump on one side but didn't seem alarmed. He came back to take everything off and I mentioned how tingly and warm my neck felt and my lips being numb. He was SO nonchalant about it. Says we may have froze a nerve ending, but thats normal and in 1 hr it’ll go down.  By 8:00 the pinkness of my skin turned red, hard, and was hurting. I noticed blisters forming. At 9:30 I went to the ER! This was not normal. They told me I had 2nd degree burns. They drained the blisters, washed my face, used neosporin and gauzed me up. I was there till 1 am Thursday morning. I have searched online and this is extremely rare, only 1 girl posted this to her face and one to her stomach. The device was supposed to stop before any of this happened! Its a new machine for them - he DID use a conductor gel like you’re supposed to, and the device didn’t feel extraordinarily cold. The last two days the area has been enlarged, super red and new blisters have formed, but the tingling has gone down. My stomach also has red welts and blisters, also enlarged.
What my face and stomach looked like before I’ll take back in a heartbeat. It wasnt that bad. This is. Yes, I feel stupid for getting it done and my vanity finally got the best of me.

Jeez that's so scary @CharmedPam!  How are you feeling now?  Is there follow up with your doctor (or the place)?
  • The hospital told me to follow up with a burn unit but they only take messages and haven’t called me back. And the medspa guy said he’d call the owner yesterday and get back to me, but he hasn’t. I’m sure I signed a waiver at the old place on the old machine… but I did not on the new one that burned me. Which is also at a new location and new name…

  • Oof I am so sorry @charmedpam. None of that should have happened. If the burn unit has a physical location maybe try stopping by directly to schedule a follow up. Definitely reach out to your PCP too to schedule a visit. If I remember correctly you have diabetes (although it’s well controlled I think). It’s extra important for follow up and please make sure to be seen at an UC or ER right away if you develop any signs of a secondary infection like worsening redness or swelling, pus from the wounds, a fever or any other new concerning symptoms.

I did cool sculpting years ago and I won’t do it again. I think I have a little paradoxical adipose hyperplasia on my stomach where it was done last (I’m still fat in the stomach so hard to tell but it pouches out more in one spot, boo). And it’s so expensive, I wish I had just invested in lipo and a tummy tuck instead. One day they did like 12 or 16 sections at once on me and I felt so physically ill, weak and shaky. Looking back I am sure that it was really hard on my kidneys and liver to do that many sections at once and they never should have agreed to it. I’m really lucky nothing bad happened. These med spas are nuts sometimes. It’s also crazy that they didn’t have you sign a waiver or speak to a clearance APP or MD.

Thanks @levioosa! I was hoping for your medical advice. Oddly enough after I read this, the burn clinic called me back but gave me yet another # for scheduling. Oy! So I left a message at that one. I was supposed to drive home this weekend but aside from the judgment of my parents and explaining to 4 young boys why I have burns all over my face, I do feel more comfortable sticking around Chicagoland area doctors.

  • Wow, Pam, that's terrifying! I'm glad they finally called you back, but hopefully they can get you in for a follow up quickly.

Pretty standard weekend here. Pedi tonight and then I've got some fish to cook. Long run in the morning tomorrow, then going to try to get the SUPs out on the river in the afternoon, since it's already summer here. Tomorrow night we have a game. Sunday I agreed to go with H to a driving range. He apparently agreed to go to some golf thing with the neighbor having never golfed before. He seems to think he's just going to magically pick up this sport in a day or two of practice?
  • Wow @CharmedPam! Hope things are better today and that you were able to schedule a follow up. That is scary!

Yesterday (Friday) I went on my first outing. We drove to an Italian bakery. It was not comfortable being in the car but other than that things went well. I have been having the worse night sweats lately. I'm off HRT because of the surgery and was told I can't go back on it until I see my doctor on the 29th (at the earliest). Last night I woke up and was totally drenched. Ugh! I want my medication. I'm still working my way through book club books. I made great progress on the one I need to finish for Monday. I'm not sure I will actually make it to the meeting but at least I'm reading something that I'm enjoying.

Not much this weekend. Sheets and towels need washing so I will be instructing H on making the bed lol. He knows how to do it but I do hospital corners and all that. Have any of you tried linen sheets if you are having night sweats? I got drawn into an Instagram thing the other day and ordered some. Women claimed it helped a lot with the sweats. I don't normally fall for ads on social media (and always go to the website to order, not through links on SM) but it sounded so promising! I may try to go to church on Sunday. It will depend on how I feel when I get up.

H and I are considering canceling our trip to Scotland this summer. With everything going on we are concerned about flights back. I know the Strait of Hormuz is suppose to be open now but for how long? The last thing I want is to get stuck over there. We need to decide soon because cancellation deadline is in May.
