It's my oldest's birthday...I officially have a 12-yr-old <3 She had a nice birthday breakfast and happily skipped into school where she anticipates her locker will be decorated and ready to share her favorite cookies with her friends at lunch.  Good friends are a blessing.  ExH is getting the kids from the bus stop at 3, no early pickup from school, which I think is best.

Had an early meeting that went pretty well, the rest of the work day should be pretty normal.  I have backup dinner ingredients in, though I assume the kids will eat with exH, since he'll have them until 5:30-6.
  • Happy Birthday to DD @ei34, glad everything worked out for the pickup.
My phone is wonky on this site. When I go to type in the box, it’s suuuuuuper slow and delayed. I have to type in an email and paste it.
Yesterday was a fun trivia night. Our team came in 1st after the first half with only 1 answer wrong! Then it got harder, and we were pushed into 4th. Then 7th after the bonus question. I think 14 or 15 teams were in. I was also a little salty because it was a pizza place, and they had 8” personal ones for a cheese only. $8.99. I ordered a ham and pineapple after the menu was taken away, but figured it would only be a couple more bucks given it was only an 8”. Nope, an extra $7 for those few ingredients. For $3 more I could have just ordered the Hawaiian 10”.
I did come home to my quarterly stitch fix and it all fit/looked good and kept. A lot of sleeveless tops, but I may have to dress up more in the new office so they’ll be good shells under a cardigan.

Yes @charmedpam! Me too! I haven't posted much this week because I usually exclusively post on my phone and the typing has been sooo delayed.

Week has been okay. Nothing to really complain or rave about. I just feel a little tired after all of the running around this past weekend. I started a new book. It's called Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror. There have been some great short stories in it. It's for my book club on Monday and I realized that I only had a few days left to read it.

I've made the sad decision to stop drinking coffee during the week when I run out of my Nespresso next. I think it's really adding a lot of calories and gain weight. It's the creamer more than the coffee of course but I can't drink coffee without creamer, so...no more coffee during the week. On the weekends I'll still have it as a treat if needed.

Happy birthday, DD! @ei34. I hope the visit with ex-H goes smoothly.

    I hope you're recovering quickly @banana468

    Thanks everyone!

I feel like myself I hope!  TMI but I have a tiny amount of spotting and that's it.  I only needed Advil Monday night and I did a 30 minute spin ride today like a normal work out day.     I'm hoping that the removal solves the weird bleeding and now I'll talk to my doc next about some other options for hormonal replacement.

Ultimately I think I also need to make diet changes to really reduce carbs and increase protein.  I'm seeing the weight gain as an easier thing right now and I'm hoping the modifications can help.  I'm not overweight but I'd also like to not need to keep going up in pants sizes.

I think I'm overwhelmed.  I've started moving, which was planned.  But my job has been suddenly upheaved.  Basically, I'm transferring offices (to PA) to cover someone's maternity leave.  I'm not really thrilled about it, but I looked at the situation, knew I was going to be told that I was going to have to do it, so I just volunteered.  That seems to have scored me some brownie points.  But since I volunteered, something that wasn't supposed to start until June 1, got moved to this next Monday.  So I'm suddenly trying to wrap up everything to leave in good shape for the people covering my cases.  And I'm so mentally exhausted, I can barely type and kinda just want to cry....but I don't have time.  Ugh.

I'm basically packing up a section of my place at night, moving the boxes to my car during the day, taking them to the new place, and repeat until next Thursday.  Anything left at that point, I'll just pack for the movers on Friday.  I know this new place is going to be so much healthier for me and for Harley, which means I'll be happier too b/c she's happy.

In other news, my mother is seriously considering selling her house and moving into a 55 and over community.  I SO want her to do this for myriad of reasons.  I think the housing market is going to bust soon and I want her to get as much money as she can, to help take care of her for the rest of her life.  I feel like she'll be safer overall and TBH, I can use a break in helping take care of her needs.
  • @ei34, I hope the exH pick-up goes smoothly today and your kids have a good time.

@CharmedPam, I'm a toppings person when it comes to pizza, but so many places are such a ripoff when it comes to those.  I'd be annoyed also.

@levioosa, When I first started my weight loss, I was tracking all my calories.  ((Mouth drop)) when I realized the little creamers at work were 35 calories/each and I always had 2-3 per cup.  I switched to using protein drinks as creamer.

@banana468, I'm glad your procedure went well and starting to get back to your normal routine.

@VarunaTT, Ugh!  If only your work had kept the new role until June 1st like it was supposed to be.  At least then your move would have been done.  Sounds like you have already been tackling the move well with frequent, small chunks.  From what you've said about your mom, a 55+ community does sound like a great option for her.  Hopefully she opts for that.

My follow-up appointment for the second surgery was a week ago.  My surgeon wants me to keep this drain in for one month total!  The whole reason I needed a second surgery is because the first drain hadn't worked well enough for my left hip.  So if he thinks it's safest to keep this one in for that long, I'm on board.  I'm feeling better since the last time I posted (yay!).  But still have at least mild pain and discomfort unless I take a pain pill.  I try not to take them unless I have to, but it's still been 1-2x/day.

I feel like I'm in "healing purgatory".  I know I'll be back to 100% someday.  But when?  It feels like my life is on hold until I have the drain out and am feeling better.

  • Glad you are feeling fairly back to normal @banana468. I hope your dr. can find a HRT treatment that works well. I've been on it for 13 years and now my gyn wants me to change to a different one since my hysterectomy. Without a uterus the progesterone isn't needed. So today I start a patch. We will see how that does with the flashes and night sweats. She really wants me off the HRT altogether but my sleep is a mess because of the night sweats.

@VarunaTT it sounds like you have things planned well with your moving strategy. Sorry your work is changing earlier than expected.

@short+sassy I"m sorry your healing is going so slowly. Hopefully after the drain is removed things will speed up. I know what you mean about the pain medication. I really didn't want to stay on it long after my back surgery. It was necessary at times though and helpful in healing.

I went to see Devil Wears Prada 2 yesterday with my book club then we went out to an early dinner. It was a good movie and fun to go out with friends. I won't be able to attend June book club because we will be at the beach with our family. H has been getting lots of yard work done this week. The weather has been great for it. Rain moves in tomorrow so hopefully he can finish up the big stuff today - there is always little stuff to do. I wish I could help him but I'm still not able to bend over or twist.
  • @bananna368, taking my pizza story out of the way lol, I’m also noting huge differences with eliminating processed carbs. I get carbs as a treat when I eat out usually. My homechef boxes have been usually protein and veggies and let me tell you homechef likes their green beans and root veggies as sides. It’s a boring life, let me tell you.
@varunaTT, I wish everything fell in place for you too. With that project start and move, but sounds like you’re taking it in strides
@short+sassy, wow one month? You absolutely don’t feel like yourself with that in. I had drains in for my tummy tuck and I think it was a week? It was a torturous week at that. But it’s going to be 100% worth it when you look back. There’s not one day that goes by that I don’t regret any surgery I had. Coolsculpting, total regrets lol.
