Wedding Woes

Friday before the long weekend

Hope everyone has some fun long weekend plans ahead!
I had a bad day at work yesterday. Some office miscommunication with my boss/coworkers and super trivial stuff. I’m not in trouble but I was thrown under the bus and I’m sick of my lying, narcissistic, martyr of a coworker. Last night was a planned trivia meetup and I was going to text my friend to pick me up for it so I could have a few to drink. But I decided against it and drove. I didn’t want to be the person who drank her sorrows away. I’ll drink to celebrate and have a joyous occasion, not because I’m mad/sad. I’m glad I don’t have to go into the office till Wednesday but I still have to work with the liar. I wish she would make good on her promise and crack and quit. She literally lies so much, she probably doesn’t even know how to tell the truth.
I’m getting my make up vanity put together today. Finally! I had it canceled on me twice already.  I don’t have to wake up till 7:55 on Friday’s, but I chose the 7-11 assembly window and he was reported here for 7. I had to get up at 6:55. Ugh! Anyway, as I’m unloading all my cosmetics because they outgrew my small (kids sized) vanity I already had, I realized it would have been a lot cheaper to just toss stuff I don’t use anymore. Nahhhhh. I’ll buy bigger. Lol. Actually, I’m 6’0 and was using a kids sized vanity so my knees kept on bumping on it, and I really should have upgraded a while ago.

Re: Friday before the long weekend

  • Have a great long weekend everyone! Hopefully everyone has a restful and fun break.

I'm on the call from hell until about 11, but hoping to log off after that and get on the road to the beach. It's normally about a 5 hour drive, but I'm assuming weekend traffic is going to make it 7, especially because we're taking the dog and that means taking longer stops than we otherwise would. I'm excited for some sun and sand, but I'll be happy to just get away and chill even if it storms the whole time.

Good luck with the travel @MyNameIsNot and ugh, sorry about the crummy work stuff @CharmedPam

Thankful for the long weekend.  It's supposed to be a washout (high in the 50s, lots of rain) so I'm not sure if the outdoor plans will end up happening, but nice to have an extra day nonetheless.

    Safe travels! @MyNameIsNot

That's so shitty @CharmedPam. Did you come packing with receipts? Every time shady stuff happens to me at work (with my old job), I would bring up alllll of the proof. You are not using me as a scapegoat.

We have a long volunteer event tomorrow that I'm not especially excited about. It's a passion of H's so I'm trying to keep my unenthusiasm (is that a word?) at bay. I am also a little bitter because the person in charge of the event (with a paid position) has not done a ton to help and really dropped the ball on the event. H has been volunteering a ton of time, and he honestly saved the event with contacting vendors and promoting because as of a month ago (they have the whole year to prepare) nothing had really been done. H was also promised a long term paid position by this person and now it just feels like they are stringing him along and taking advantage. They started sending H job postings which we're taking as a sign that they don't mean to hire him when the job officially opens. Meanwhile H has been working so hard and they keep giving him non-paid accolades and positions but we need a paid job. I told him a hard stop is end of June and if it's not going the way he was promised, we pull all the way back. He is not endless free labor. It would also be different if this person showed up and worked really hard, but they've been doing other things for their own personal gain and letting a bunch of important things slide.

Otherwise, SSDD. I am ready for the weekend and look forward to Sunday when I can unwind. I hope everyone has a good weekend!

  • Oh I absolutely do @levioosa. Thankfully my boss texted me this question, and I just answered her and gave her nothing more, nothing less. I have no idea how far up the chain it will go.
Poor H too! You guys are both so patient. I like how you gave him a hard stop and I hope it all pays out and he will get a job offer.

We've reached the stage where DH needs help getting to the bathroom.  That means I can't leave him here by himself and go on-site to work without arranging care.  I have a work-based caregiving benefit and have submitted a request.  We get 20 days and pay $6 an hour after subsidy.  We also saw his primary yesterday, who gave us a referral to palliative care.  Hopefully, there are some options through them as well.

We plan to go to a couple of cemeteries to place flowers this weekend, and plan on going to visit DH's sister tomorrow.  The weather is supposed to be very nice with temps in the 70s & 80s with no rain.  I have mulch to pick up and spread in my landscaping, and will also pick up a planter to put by the front door.

Those are the plans for now, but things always seem to change.

  • Oh @MNNEBride that’s so tough! Hoping you get some support!
  • It’s cool, and supposed to rain, most of the weekend but I’m running the half marathon here Sunday so that’s actually perfect weather. M has baseball photos and they’re doing the kids races tomorrow so should be a fun weekend.
