Wedding Woes

Prudie Day

Wishing all a smooth day!

Re: Prudie Day

  • It really doesn't feel like a Thursday! We took Tuesday off to drive back because I didn't want to sit in traffic coming back from the beach, so I'm halfway through a 3 day week.

The beach was great! It ended up not raining at all. It was overcast for a few hours one morning, but it was mostly sunny the whole time. The beach is dog friendly during certain hours, so we got to take her for long walks in the mornings before we spent the afternoons lounging. I'm actually kind of tan.

Apparently it rained here all weekend while we were gone, and is supposed to keep raining through this weekend. We've been in a drought so we really need it, but I'm not excited about trying to camp this weekend. Otherwise, SSDD.

Not too much happening today. I got my microneedling done last night. They didn't have any Saturday appointments so unfortunately that means I'm back at work with my face looking terrible but it is what it is. The bummer is having to wait 72 hours to return to workouts. I think I can probably get away with an easy walk as long as my heart rate stays low and I don't sweat. But it's throwing off my whole routine for the week. The price of vanity I guess.

Fairly SSDD today at work.  The students are so checked out.

I've been planning on taking the kids on vacation to London and Paris next April, and I usually like to book our plane tickets as soon as I can.  For months I've been comparing rates (using other dates, but just to compare different airlines using the same dates) and they've totally skyrocketed since January (thanks T***p).  So now I'm not sure if I should book next week, when I can, or if I should wait and see if they go down.  The travel dates are not flexible (school break) and with school breaks, the flights only get more expensive as the travel dates get closer, not the other way around, so I'm at a weird place.  (FWP, I know.  Just frustrated that now that it's almost time to book, the flights cost so much more than they'd been.)

Ugh that sucks @ei34. If you do book, look very carefully at any insurance policies. They are already putting in the fine print that oil prices and cancellations due to it are being considered exempt from the policy. And if you do purchase, make sure you save a PDF of the email with the date and fine print. I've heard even though they're not supposed to, airlines are making their emails with dynamic wording, so what looks to be covered initially gets changed later. We are living in a dystopian nightmare.

We want to go to Europe next year too but tbd on what a mess everything might be by then. We also got notification that my cousin's wedding is going to be next May. But as long as we can financially swing it, it might be more fun to take extra days and do a road trip up PCH to Oregon. Probably renting a car and then flying back would ultimately be the best option but then we're at the mercy of airlines again.

  • Soooooo Frustrating @ei34. I’m with you on that! I’d like to book some flights for next year too, but I’m waiting and *hoping* those go down.
@levioosa, was it a normal microneedle? I think my face is a little pink the day after, but nothing substantial.  The Morpheus8 allows me to go back to normal the next day and I love that.

  • That sucks @ei34! I am going to Aruba in June and I felt like every time I looked prices kept going up!

a short week and a million meetings! It’s like we just decided to compress everything into 4 days. M has an art show at school tonight then we’re seeing Elmo Live!

@CharmedPam It was a Skin Pen microneedling with PRP. It looks like a really intense sunburn and my forehead has a little bruising. But my skin tends to get red very easily and I bruise super easily too, even with stopping all of my supplements for a week and a half. I'm too scared to get Morpheus. First of all I hear it's super painful. And then I worry about it complicating a face lift in the future (although let's be real, will I be able to afford one in the future?). I really desperately need a neck and lower face lift after losing so much weight. I am glad they don't try to push sculptra on me. No filler or modulator is going to fix what needs to be a surgical repair. I wish insurance would cover a neck lift at least. My face says 30. My neck says I'm 60.

@levioosa, I got numbed for both pen and Morpheus but the micro-needle pen hurt hella more. Morpheus was a walk in the park. Did I tell you the one time I got my entire stomach micro-needled for my stretch marks?  First of all, one session wont do anything, you need multiple. And secondly, I have a HIGH (very) high threshold for pain but it was the worst I ever felt and even went on days after. I held back tears and almost was going to tell her to stop. She did not numb that area (that I recall). But it hurt so much after it, I doubt it would have helped. I got tricked into a liquid V facelift last year. It DID take away my dreaded perioral mounds but V lift my butt. My face has never been chubbier/puffier. I can’t afford to dissolve it, so I hope it goes down with time.
edit to add: and the neck thing? Heard. That’s why I did cool sculpting on it. So, I don’t recommend that….

@charmedpam I was not a fan of the microneedling on my forehead. I think it's because the skin there is thinnest and I don't have any fat or muscle (after botox, lol) to blunt the sensation. I was numbed but it didn't seem to help for the forehead. I did get Coolsculpting to my neck back in the day. It definitely helped with the fat pad I had under my chin but I wouldn't do it again given complications that have been seen. I have a little spot I would love to be zapped off but my main problem is the turkey neck I'm left with after massive weight loss. I already knew genetically it was going to be an issue but I thought I'd have 10-15 more years. Nope, not when you lose that much weight. Boo.
