    Really winding down here, woohoo.  Heading my small dept's end of year celebratory luncheon in a couple hours, so setting up for it now.  Throwing DD a birthday party this evening, her birthday was last month but she watches her summer birthday siblings have a party at the town pool each July and asked for one this year.  She doesn't mind that it's been a month since her actual birthday, and is very excited.  So just a lot of hosting today.  Very celebratory though :)
  • That makes sense @ei34! Her summer birthday is that to my “I wish I had a Halloween birthday” every year. I did get married on Nov 1st and incorporated a big halloween karaoke welcome
    Party. It was a blast.
    I’m finding it super hard to find doctors trained in acessa here (laparoscopic radio frequency ablation of the fibroids so you don’t have to google lol). I may have to wait and go with that jerk of a doctor I visited with earlier this month. I hope he doesn’t look at my appts and sees I’ve been asking around for someone with a better bedside manner. In other news I bought a motorized flamingo floaty and motorized unicorn floaty for the lake. With water guns. I got the idea from my local news segment “things I want but don’t need”. They had the floaties with attached water guns but were way much more money. Plus the animal ones had a canopy too. And a drink holder. Because shooting water at my nephews and friends on the lake will require a wild berry truly for that job.

    I hope you can find someone else you like! @CharmedPam

    SSDD here. I had my follow up ultrasound yesterday. Some good news, great news and annoying news. The vein is sealed, I don't have any blood clots, but my other leg has a vein which isn't big enough to do anything with but unfortunately is symptomatic. She did clarify I can exercise again but just go easy on weights (still suboptimal guidance, but I'll take it) and I am so excited about that because I crashed out hard last Thursday when I found out I wasn't supposed to exercise for four weeks. And she said as long as my wounds are healed, I can go in the pool on our trip (which is what I thought, but I wasn't sure if there was a secondary reason). Unfortunately they asked me to do a third(!) appointment in 2-3 weeks and I was again miffed at that. Just schedule all of these appointments when you schedule the procedure. I can't be last minute requesting off this much time from work. It's not like you didn't know I would need these appointments.

    Otherwise, not too much going on here. We have a party for FIL on Saturday so I've been working on prepping the house. It's still too early to clean (why is it that homes get so dirty so fast? It's not like anything is even happening at home during the day), but I'm trying to organize so the rest of prep is quick and as painless as hosting an event can be.

    Been kind of MIA lately with work travel and a bit of vacation. Lurking as I can. Mostly SSDD - work is fine and busy, stuff with H is hard and frustrating, house projects continue slooooowwwly, boys are incredible.

    @ei34 enjoy the birthday and end of school year!
    @CharmedPam those floaties sound awesome
    @levioosa glad you can exercise and boo on the additional appointment
  • Glad to see you around @casadena!
    @levioosa, were you to stop even weights that targeted arms? I’m assuming the vein was in the leg?

    @CharmedPam yes originally they told me I had to stop everything. The only thing I could do was walk. But I've been trying to heal what I think was the start of a stress fracture so extensive walking was out of the picture too. So I was losing my mind because I haven't been working so hard just to lose a ton of progress by minimal walking only for a whole month.

    Good to "see" you! @casadena

  • I had my first real PT appointment today. She said we are going to gradually add weights to exercises as I progress. It seems really slow but I know I don't want to undo what the susrgery did. So upper body weights starting at 5 lbs (for reference I was using 15-20 pound weights before surgery). Only lower body without weight except for leg presses from a seated position.  Why does it take so long to build muscle but so little time to lose it?!

    I was pretty worn out after spin class and PT today so had another day of porch reading. The weather will be heating up and getting more humid over the next few days so I figured to enjoy it while I could.

    Good to see you @Casadena!

    That's so annoying about the appointments @levioosa!
