Prudie Day

Yesterday we spent half a day in our new office (which no one likes, it’s an office building, nothing special) and it was a complete waste of time. I doubt we’re taking that commute 3x a week either.  They really uprooted our lives by making us take that trip. Also, we did a cutover to the new company server and it was a complete disaster. We can’t access anything since Tuesday and I’m stuck in the water on SO many things. It’s been a nightmare to say the least. The work situation is just stressing me out because I don’t think I’ll have a job after 2027. I’m sales support and sales isn’t selling. The thought of getting a job and losing my 5 weeks of vaca just suuuuuuucks. Not many jobs in my position will offer that, usually office workers in my stature get offered the standard 2 weeks to start with (from what I’m hearing). But how much traveling will I really do with my pay cut anyway I guess?
What’s the powerball at now? Because that would erase a lot of my problems. Not all, but a lot.

Ugh, that all sucks. I'm sorry @CharmedPam. There is a lot of uncertainty at my job too. We are in the middle of a merger with a private equity company  :'( That's never good news. There's a lot of talk about cuts in our pay and increased work loads. I'm not sure how the pay would work because I signed a 10 year contract. But they could make my pay stagnant and prevent raises. They also can definitely force us to see more people and do a type of care which I have made a concerted effort NOT to do (if I wanted a job doing that type of care I could get one--those jobs are a dime a dozen and they suck). It's kind of a bummer because this job has been amazing and it is pretty annoying that we sold out to PE. I'm probably safe from any meaningful changes until at least next year, but after that who knows.

We leave for our trip tomorrow. It's a busy day today with work, gym and a spray tan and doing last minute packing and house stuff. I would love to say I'm getting to bed early tonight but I can feel it in my bones that I'll be going to bed super late. At least all of the big stuff is packed and I did clean the house already so it's just tidying up so we don't come home to a mess. H is dropping the kitten off at his parent's house to watch for the weekend since she's too young to leave alone. And he got excused from Jury Duty after going in on Tuesday so we don't have to worry about that either.

SSDD.  Work is still rough but we're trying to have plans to get through things.  One particular account just loves to write the most unprofessional emails in frustration and I'm giving the person her space to vent but will not respond.

Chiquita got her AP test score back for the music theory class she took and it was a 4 so that's a nice feather in her cap.  She's got reading to do this summer for the history class she's taking and in less than two weeks she's off to her first week of summer camp!

Good job Chiquita! AP testing was so nerve wracking. I bet that will help with her confidence too!

I think it does!  She knows a friend who got a 5 last year but a friend heading to college also got a 2 so this is a nice one for her.  She's taking AP US History and that's a hard test and has summer reading and the rumor is that the test is hard every other year making next may a potential rough one.

    Way to go Chiquita!

Ugh, that’s really stressful @charmedpam, I’m sorry you’re dealing with it
@levioosa wishing you safe travels and a restorative vacation

My brother’s play was extremely moving. Today is my mother’s birthday, we’ll be celebrating her later. Worked on some home improvement projects earlier today and in mom mode now since the kids are back from camp.

Good for Chiquita! APUSH is one of the hardest tests if I remember correctly (up there with the science tests). I took it in high school and my god it was so much work. But honestly it was invaluable to understanding our country. I had a teacher who was nationally ranked as one of the best APUSH teachers at the time and the skills she gave us in being able to critically look at history and current events was literally life changing. I still think about her often.

  • Oh so sorry @levioosa, it looks like you’re going through the exact same thing as I am. FX we can get through this as I’d like to keep my job too.
    WTG Chiquita!
I’m glad the play was good @ei34, happy birthday to momma
