Name change

Did anyone have a problem with changing your last name?  I feel a little sad about losing my last name and especially being an only child. Let me also mention that my last name is changing to Swanson...just like the Swanson dinners.  Fi hates when I say that! :)

no problem here, but I had a awful last name and I hated it growing up.  I have a younger bro to carry the name on so I was happy to get my short 4 letter last name!

I haven't changed mine yet, but I'm going from a complicated 9 letter last name that no one can spell or say correctly to save their life to a simple 5 letter one.  lol.  I love it.

I'm only sad about it because I only have sisters. there is no one to carry on the family name unless my youngest sister has a kid out of wedlock and gives that kid our maiden name. however, my other sister, who is pregnant right now, is giving her son our maiden name as his middle name.but I like my FI's last name. I can pronounce it easier (I have a lisp, difficult when your last name starts with an S).

I haven't had any problems yet. I am still trying to change my name with banks & the places I pay bills with.I was sad at first, but getting over it slowly. I was the last person in my family with my last name since we were all girls. I was ready to change my name because my maiden name is really long. Ready for something short.

I will change mine. I have a brother to carry on our family name. I am just tying to decide if I want to keep my middle name as is, or make my maiden name my middle name.

I put my maiden name as my middle name. I dropped my middle name. You can always give the middle name you dropped to kids.

no way, I LOOOOOOOOOVE my middle name. I actually wish that I went by my middle name as opposed to my first name.

I absolutely love my last name, it is going to be so hard for me to change it.  I have a brother and lots of boy cousins to carry on our last name.  FI does not want me to hyphenate it so that is out.  However, FI does have a really cool last name so that will ease the pain of changing it, haha.

I *think* I will be losing my middle name and making my maiden name my middle name, then having FI's last name as mine.
