Good Reads

A coworker and I have gotten into reading during our lunch breaks and whenever it is slow. I'm just curious on What is everyone reading right now? What books are you wanting to read? What would you suggest?

I recommend "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin...its a easy, fun read and the plot revolves around a wedding engagement!  I want to read "Something Blue" next...it picks up where that one left off.

I thought the last three books of the Twilight series were not as good as the first.  Breaking Dawn was good, but I still think Twilight was her best.

Something Borrowed and Something Blue are both great - I read those a while ago. There's also a 3rd one by that author ... Baby Proof? I think it's called? I can't remember for sure. Time Traveler's Wife is one of my favorite books of all time. I'm reading Lone Survivor now. It's the true story of a Navy Seal who was the only survivor of a mission in Afghanistan in 2005. It's great so far!

I read the first two books in the Twilight series and I was hooked.  Then I started the third book and only got about 1/3 of the way through and was bored.  Never picked it up again.     Right now I'm reading "The Help" by Katherine Stockett.  It's so good!  I just finished "The Glass Castle" by Jeannete Walls, that was an amazing true story.  It was about a girl growing up moving from place to place with parents who were very unattentive.  So sad.  I finished it in two days.  Then I read "Same Kind of Different As Me", that was also a true story about slavery in the south during the 60's.Next on my list is "Push" by Sapphire.  It got made into a movie called "Precious" and I want to read the book before I watch the movie...

reading just gets to be so addicting at times. I wrote down all the ones everyone has mentioned. Right now I am reading Left Behind. I remember a lot of people reading it awhile back and I saw it at half price and got it among others. It is the only book I hadn't read from the house. I would recommend all the adult fairytale like books like Wiked, Mirror Mirror, etc. I think they are cute and different. I am looking online for more books to add to the list. I agree with TNT we should have a book swap or even a book club sorta thing over wine.

Everyone reading Twilight - Are y'all going to watch the movies? I wasnt to read them, but don't want to be dissapointed in the movie. I usually read the book after I watch the movie. It doesn't ruin either one for me.

The twilight movie wasn't all that good imo....but i do think the new moon movie will be better
  • edited December 2011
I really like The host also but it's NOTHING like twilight

I watched Twilight before I read the book. Wasn't really sure what the hype was about in the beginning but once I started reading, I really enjoyed. I thought the movie was great because that is what got me to want to read the books. I can't wait for New Moon to come out, even though that was my least favorite. I mean who doesn't like looking at Robert Pattinson? :)

I'm thinking after New Moon comes out I'll start reading the books. We just hardly get to go to the movies. FI and I disagree on everything out. I think the other guy in New Moon Taylor something is cuter than Rob. Could be the tan.

Just take the movie as a movie.  Movies will never be able really be able to adapt a book.  If you expect the Twilight movie to be exactly like the book, then I wouldn't necessarily watch it.  There are a lot of changes.  But that usually happens.  Plus, I thought the acting and direction could have been better...even for a teen flick.  I saw the movie Thirteen that the Twilight director made.  That was really good.  Starred the same girl, too.  And the girl who played Rosalie was in that movie.  I thought they all did better with Thirteen than with Twilight. But that's just my opinion.

Oops...wrong star.  Evan Rachel Wood was in Thirteen.  Kristen Stewart is in Twilight.

I guess I'm the only one not into the Twilight Series...haha.I'm more into political conspiracies, murder mysteries and the such.  I'm a huge fan of James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, David Baldacci & Dan Brown, to name a few.

I could stare at Rob all day :).I heard the Host was nothing like Twilight.I thought the movie was not good. I liked the eye candy but that was about all. I think New Moon will be 10 times better.
