Order of service (w/sand ceremony)

It has been a LONG time since I have been to a wedding. I can't remember the order of service of a Christian ceremony. Did any of you use a sand ceremony instead of a unity candle? Where did you put it in the order of service.I can't really find the order of service I'm looking for on the net. We're not Catholic so I don't need a mass schedule. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very greatful!I know I could ask the pastor performing the ceremony, but FI knows him and I don't. I'm not too keen on him. It wasn't even a day and he emailed my FMIL that he had met with us (this past Saturday). I think he is VERY odd, but not because he emailed her. Anyway, that is totally another post...Any help on my original question would be awesome!TIA ladies!

I think the lighting of the unity candle comes after the exchanging of the rings.  I would image you could do the sand at that point.  Search for order of Catholic weddings just to get an idea of when the candle is normally done during the ceremony and then go from there.

We did the sand ceremony instead of the unity candle.  It was after the vows and ring exchange, the pastor gave a brief explanation of what the sand pouring symbolizes and then afterwards was followed with the final blessing, first kiss, and end of the ceremony.

go to www.weddingpastor.com and click on the christian ceremony - you'd do the sand where it says unity candle...even if you arent using their pastor services, i think it's a great tool for planning your vows and the rest of your ceremony
