Price per guest

How do you calculate price per guest?  What all do you inlcude?

Thanks!

Re: Price per guest

  • Only include the items that increase with guest amount.

So presumably your caterer/venue has a per person price for meals and drinks.  If not, you'll have to calculate what you think each person will drink, or the per person cost of buying 10 kegs, or 30 bottles of wine, or whatever you're buying.  You can do the same with hors deuvres and appetizers.

Your cake should have a per person (per slice) cost as well.

Then think about cost of items per table.  If you're paying for linens, dishes, flatware, drinkware, etc., then you can calculate the per person cost.  If you seat 10 people at a table with a 10 dollar tablecloth, then each person will cost about $1 (of course, it wouldn't save you any tablecloth money to cut a few people, because you'd still need to buy a tablecloth whether you seat 10 or only 5 at that table, you know?  But it can still give you a rough idea of per person cost.)

Do the same with centerpieces.  If a 10-person table has a $50 centerpiece, then that's another $5 onto the per person cost.

There's also other things like wedding favors (optional) and invitations to account for each guest.

For the most part, however, the other costs such as the cost of an officiant, the cost for the ceremony and/or reception space are all costs that you have to pay regardless of how many you invite, so they're not really a per person cost.
