Whats the going rate for a wedding cake (per slice)?  Seems like most were $3+/slice
Who are y'all using? Cakes by Gina.  Yum!  Her cakes are gorgeous and so moist.  Plus she can make buttercream look like fondant.  We had her cake at my FSIL's wedding and it was on the top of our splurge list for our wedding!
What are some helpful questions to ask?  Ask your venue if they have a cake stand because the cake places charge like $60 to borrow one and it has to be back 48 hours after the wedding!!  Ask if they will make you a new anniversary cake for your first anniversary in case yours doesn't store well.

Posted by Meagan78[/QUOTE] Is it that I don't understand how cakes get charged? So if you are having about 200 people. Is that 200*3? That's about $600? Not bad. How much do people usually charge for cakes? And who is this cakes by Gina? She keeps popping up.

Whats the going rate for a wedding cake (per slice)? Most are $2.75+

Who are y'all using? For Heavens Cake, 832.876.9197
    forheavenscake@gmail.com, http://forheavenscake.org/Home_Page.html

What are some helpful questions to ask? Ask about their stands, ours is $40 extra, delivery information, when you can schedule cake tasting, if you're having fresh flowers on them - if you provide them or florist does - where and what time, what type of icing they use, how long before are the cakes prepared (you want them fresh, not frozen for days), ask them to provide written proposal, is there delivery fee and when do the stands or other rented items (such as fountains, toppers, tiers) have to be returned...

To answer your question above, most prices also depend on tiers, guest count, cake type - italian creme costs more, you can choose a picture on their website or provide your own and ask for emailed quote...

I think ours was 3 something a slice can't remember, we used Cakes by Gina as well. We had about 300 at our wedding, but she told us that we would not need 300 slices, we had 262 on the bridal cake and 130 slices my DH's cake. I wanted a larger cake so she put a fake layer on the bottom that was 20 inches around, and that cost $125, our cakes total for my 5 later cake with a fake layer and DH's cake that also had 5 dozen strawberries on it was around 2K - which included setup and delivery. (there are photos in my bio) Definitely go for a tasting, we did not get another topper for our 1 year, but she left instructions for the kitchen about how to store it and ours tasted the same a year later, it was really good. Good luck!

PP is right - Cakes by Gina said we wouldn't need all those slices and the make a ton of cake.  I think we went with cake for 130 and ours was about $600.

I am using Edible Designs by Jessie and having my cake for 150 and sheet cake for another 100.  The sheet cake was $80-$100 and the bride's cake was $3.50 a slice.  She is awesome...

I used cakes by gina also, and of course it was really good! the total for both of our cakes was about $700.  I had 60 people there and there was enough cake for about 80+ but they served everyone a slice of each flavor so all the cake ran out, wich was fine by me, and i took home the topper.  Both our cakes were fondant wich cost a little more than just buttercream but you can always ask them to quote you on both and see what you prefer.

I'm using Timtations. His cakes ARE heaven in your mouth for sure. I don't remember what he quoted me the first time around but I think it's in the $3.25-$3.50 range. He is one of the vendors I'm definately using again for my 'do over' wedding. Good luck.
