Cruise Ship Wedding Anyone??

Has anyone gotten married or is planning a wedding on a boat? Whats your experience or advice?

Re: Cruise Ship Wedding Anyone??

  • Yes, I am scheduled for July.  I think it is a good idea if you do not plan on having over 50 guests and do not want a lot of hands-on.  I paid for it in January and lots of things are coming due.  If you want, I can keep you posted.

  • Oh that would be great! I would really appreciate it. I dont plan but maybe 30 people. But yes I would like to know how it goes, who did what, catering? things like that. Good luck with everything, im sure it is going to be beautiful!!

  • No problem.  Just email me at sujag1998@yahoo.com.   Carnival does just about everything.  It's one stop shopping - cake, food, drinks, etc...

Do a thorough search of the Cruise Ship Web-site.  When you begin organizing your Cruise, you'll have an agent who will work with you BEFORE you actually book the cruise.  Each Cruise line has different services available.  Your agent will provide you with contact #'s.   We are using Holland America - the cruise is round trip Seattle to Alaska's Glacier Bay.  Adding a couple of land excursions.
Find out if you can pick the day, time, ship location for your particular wedding.  What photography is available.  Do you want a reception, for how many quests.  If you want a hair salon, is there one.  Get a contact to inquire about pricing and appointments.
I discovered that there were rather common looking bouquets to choose from.  So I'm actually bringing my own flowers ( stemmed with individual water tubes, my wires, scissors, floral tape, and ribbon.  All needly packed with some ice packs.  I could even have a hand tied bouquet with it's stems in water - bring that with me - tie ribbon on it later (to keep the ribbon dry.
Our wedding will be quite small, June of 2013,- Bride, groom, my sister and her husband, the grooms daughter.   4 more are still trying to find a way.   I am even bringing my own cake, carefully packed in a container with a handle.  Cake will be refrigerated until we leave for the cruise ship.   We only need a small cake.  Also will have flowers with me for a reception dinner table arrangement.  Our line doesn't allow open flame candles.
If your cruise is combined with air travel, you plans will have to harmonize with the air travel restrictions.   In that case, you could still bring your own fixings.  Rent a hotel for one night so you can have your bouquet and cake delivered to your hotel before you leave for the ship.
Can't think of anything else for now.  You may contact me at the47rainier@yahoo.com
I'd like to know what info you find that I may have missed.
btw, I'm even making our wedding announcements one of the better photo's from the cruise.  Don't be shy about contacting me, I'd love to have someone to trade info with.
