Hoity Toity - What do I do?

So... I'm pretty sure that I've found my venue. Vargos restaurant. It's beautiful and lush for the outdoor ceremony and the reception would be held in a gorgeous modern looking room with dark woods and wide open windows overlooking their beautiful view. I love, love, love it.... but I HATE the menu/atmosphere. Everything seems very hoity toity, which isn't in keeping with the more casual design that I really want. When I eat there, I feel like I'm being judged because I'm not old money!!! Is it that big a deal for a wedding though? Am I making a big deal out of the fact that it's a 3-course meal rather than a casual buffet? I mean, the waitstaff even wears tuxes....

Re: Hoity Toity - What do I do?

  • I haven't eat at Vargo's, so I don't know exactly what the menu or atmosphere is.

But I will say that you can make your own wedding atmosphere.  Yes, the waitstaff may be kinda stuffy, but I'm assuming everyone will be pleasant to your guests on your wedding day.  If you have your own decor, your own music, etc, it seems that will change the atmosphere to fit your and your FI's personality.

My only big concern would be the menu.  I don't think a 3-course meal has to be "stuffy" or "hoity toity", but do you like the food?  Is the food not what you wanted?

  • I looked at Vargo's for my wedding. I say check out their reviews....
  • Moot point. They have called to tell us that they went from being completely open in October to closed from June until January of next year. Not pleased....
