Where to Buy E-Ring

My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 6 years and we're seriously talking about getting engaged. He wants to go ring shopping with me later this month, but I wanted to do some "research" beforehand.

Where's your e-ring from? Did you/ your FI have a good experience with that jeweler? Would you recommend them?

We live inside the loop, but we're willing to go anywhere in the Houston area.

Thank you so much :):)

    Depends on the budget.
I recommend Zales Galleria and also Zales Outlet (Houston premium outlet)

He says about $8,000-$10,000 budget, even though I think that's too much. So, I guess absolutely no more than $10,000 until we go out there and really see how much rings cost.

    Thanks for the recommendation!

We had mine made at Diamond Cutter's International.  Great experience... we are also having my band made with them...

My FI did his own research...and he bought my engagement ring at WhiteFlash.  They actually gave him a training class on diamonds, how to select them, etc. As they were making my ring, the sent him pictures and even had several appts with him to show him progress of my ring and so forth.   We are getting our wedding bands there too.  Below is the their website.

These are the pictures they sent him after they completed my ring.

that is an extremely high budget so you can go basically anywhere you want and be able to afford a sizeable ring. We went to Bailey Banks and Biddle which is closed now, but Tiffany and Deutch and Deutch on Westheimer/Kirby had huge selections.

What I liked at D&D is you can pick the individual stone out first and then design or choose a setting. Their diamonds were practically flawless too!

I would recommend staying away from the big box retailers.  They seemed to charge more money for the quality.  We went to Nazar's and I think we found the nicest ring for his budget.

My ring is from Jared. The customer service is great, and their sales include a lifetime warranty on the diamond, as long as you bring your ring in every 6 months for inspection.

My ring is from Blue Nile.com. They have amazing service, fair prices, and were really helpful through the whole thing. I found I could get a much better diamond for a much lower price than in any store.

Klein's. Very honest and very reasonable. They do custom work.

I worked for Jared for and can say some of the best deals and most beautiful stones are there. So i would recomend them. But we purchesed mine from Thomas Markle since i was picky and I found a hearts on fire ring; I couldnt imagine anything else on my hand.

I second Blue Nile -- the prices are absolutely unbeatable, come with a report (and you can view the report online to see what your diamond specs are), overnight shipping for free, and their customer service and the education department on their website has a wealth full of information that will help your soon to be learn everything he needs to know -- AND NO SALES TAX! When you're spending that amount of money, saving on sales tax saves alot more money -- he can just add it to the size of your ring! :)

Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I'm really excited to go ring hunting, but since there are so many jewelers out there, I want to go to the recommended ones first :):)

We got the center diamond on bluenile.com and had it set at Jared on a set I loved there.

I got my fiance's ring from Wolf Diamonds.  Bryan Vaughn is the owner and he is a private broker/dealer.  He literally saved my thousands of dollars compared to what others around town wanted.

Bryan took his time and explained every little detail about diamonds, how some jewelers literally screw you on bad diamonds and he designed a custom ring for us.  We gave him several pics of different ring settings and he built a custom setting for us that combined all of the elements.  I know this sounds expensive, but compared to what we were finding everywhere else it was actually much cheaper.  Do yourself a favor and give him a call.

As others have said, avoid the big box retailers at all costs.  They sell inferior diamonds and premium prices.  If you really want to do it online bluenile is ok, but whiteflash is much better.  My only issue with whiteflash is that they had limited office hours.  Even though they are in Houston they were not really willing to allow us to come in and sit down with them.  That was a huge turn off for us.  We really wanted to meet face to face with the person we were spending thousands of dollars with.
