Can anyone give me some insight on affordable reception venues in Houston?? I seem to only find places that end up costing about $100/person after service charge!!

It helps if we know about how many guests, since reception halls vary in size. It also helps to know location.

My wedding is at Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond, TX. The all-in price comes to about $68/head. This is with sales tax, gratuity, AND open bar! This also includes centerpieces, linens, food... basically everything except for dj, cake, & photography. They are a great deal!

Some other places off the top of my head:

Brady's Landing, The Patio on Mercer, The Gallery, Demer's, Great Oaks Manor, Heights Fire Station.

pick up an issue of a local wedding magazine- most bridal stores have them. or a Quineanera/bridal magazine- some mexican restaurants usually have them.

I do hear the heights fire station is pretty good and you can choose your own outside vendors.

Not sure what area you're looking for: For less than $100/person, check out Crystal ballroom (downtown), The gardens on Beamer, Bridgewater events in Baytown,  Chateau Crystale on Westheimer/gessner, Heights Fire Station.

We're having ours at the Milford House.  It can only accommodate about 100 people, but it's perfect for us and very reasonably priced.

I have Chateau Crystale... way under $100 a person.  It all depends on what you are asking for.  I like nice things on a budget... Crystale fit the bill.  Very nice place.. great price.  Friday night grandball room $40 a person. That includes food, cake, china, buffet meal (sit down is $5 more a person) some center pieces, champaign toast, tea and soda.  You can bring in your own alcohol.  They can hold up to 400 people in the big ball room.
