Help for some lost planners. : ).

I have two situations..

First:
My best friends sister is getting married at Chantilly Country. She is already having issues with them after she JUST booked them.. she is having trouble with them not really wanting to help her plan out things or answer questions until a month before the wedding. She is getting married in June..
there are a couple bad reviews online.. has anyone heard of this place? Or know of anyone that has. and has reviews?

Second:
My future Sister in Law (She is marrying my FIs twin.. lol) is having issues with her photographer.  In her package a DVD with the engagement pictures are included.  Well, I designed her Save the Dates and she wanted to know if she could get the pictures to put on them.  and her Photog said that she would have to pay her $45 to get the cd early.  She will only give them to her with her wedding pictures.  I mean what good are engagement pics after you are married???
PLUS
She told her she didn't want her putting her pictures on something that she didn't make.. and that she would create another save the date for her for a $25 dollar fee! When I first made the STD's for her she told her that she would give her the pic only if I sent her the layers to my design.. (Which I was NOT going to do...) I mean whats the difference if she puts them on there or if i do?? Anddd when my FSIL told her that she was going to get magnets off of Vista Print, the Photographer said that Vista sucked and was bad quality but that she could make them for her for like $4 a piece! (I have never had an issue with Vista!!)
A Lifetime of Memories is the photographer..

Sorry such a long post!

What advice can I pass on to these ladies!!!??

For your first concern...I have never heard of Chantilly Country.

For your second concern, that photographer sounds like he/she is just trying to milk money our of you FSIL's pocket!   You are right...what good are engagement pictures after the wedding??  That makes no sense at all.  Does your FSIL still have the original contract from the photographer??  Are there any specific stipulations stating WHEN she can or can not get the Engagement pics??

    P.S.

I don't blame you for not sending the photographer the design of the STD's you created.  He/She might try to steal your masterpiece and claim it as their own!!

WOW. I would look back over that photog contract. It's kind of a Catch 22... she can have a fit over those engagements and maybe get what she wants, but she's risking the photog getting mad and doing a terrible job at the wedding. I've NEVER heard of a photog not giving engagements until after the wedding. that's completely ridiculous!

tell the first one to hire a planner/coordinator.

I haven't heard of Chantilly Country but what specific things does she need answers to?  If they're not in the contract, she has the right to ask since she's paying for their services. Some venues have wedding coordinator to assist bride but if Chantilly Country does not, the planning is up to the bride.

    1) Sorry I am no help here.

    2) Like others have said. You Must look at the contract closely. If no date is specified then you have a right to the photographs Before the wedding. They really are pointless if you get them after the wedding.

Again look at the contract. Is there anything saying you cannot use the pictures for personal use? Sending out save the dates is personal use. You are not entering any contests or giving the pictures away to any Joe you meet on the street. You have a right to use them if the contact allows.

Do Not give her your design. It is your work. If the photographer wants it they can pay for it. Then once they pay you they can use it however they want.

The contract is there for a reason. It is to help protect the client and photographer. I hope it is in the clients favor.

It seams as though everyone is giving you great advise for your second problem, so here is some advise for the first:

Tell her to hire a coordinator who is willing to take the time for her. Give her my information and I will gladly set up a free consultation to talk about her worries and concerns with the venue. E-mail me at emily@somethingblueevents.net

I hope to hear from her soon!
