Bridesmaids Dresses - department store/untraditional

Most of my bridesmaids are out of towners, so I'd really love for them to be able to order their dresses online and take care of their alterations in their hometown.  I was recently in a wedding where the bride sent us a link to Neiman Marcus and we were responsible for ordering ourself.  It worked wonderfully.  Any suggestions on where I can find inexpensive, nice, appropropriate dresses?  As I said  - I realize they are having to travel and I don't want them to break the bank to be a part of my wedding.

I got my bridesmaids to order their dresses off Nordstrom.com.  They ended up being super cheap because they were on sale (from $100 to $50).  They all really liked them and it didn't break the bank.

My bridesmaids got them at White House/ Black Market. At the time, they were about $178, but they're about $80 now.

Mine were from Target online, they have some really cute dresses under their special occasion dresses.

I second Nordstrom's.  I think the dresses were around $100.

Nordstrom's is a great idea, and I hadn't thought of it!  Thanks!  Did you order the dresses online or go into the store? If you bought online....how were you sure they had enough in stock.  Did you call?

I had the girls order them online from Nordstroms.  Once I had the dress picked out and they all agreed, they all ordered them within a week.  That way we knew they had enough.  The dresses actually went on sale the week after they ordered them, and the girls called Nordstrom and Nordstrom happily refunded the difference in sale price which I thought was very nice.  They didn't have to send the dresses back or anything, they just put the amount on the card (they were originally like $100 and went down to like $50, so not just a little bit of money was refunded).

If they had run out of a certain size, I think the girls would have just bought the next biggest size and had them altered down.

Good luck!  Here is the link to the one my girls ordered:

We just placed one order and then all the bridesmaids paid us back.  Some of them had to order 2 sizes since they weren't near a Nordstroms to try the dresses on.  Nordstroms has a great return policy and returning the ones we didn't need was not a problem.  Their shipping is free if you spend over $100.  The dresses I used were similiar to the link posted above but were the longer version and in black.
