When did you book your dj?

Our wedding is 10.23.11 and we haven't booked our dj. We planned on using a guy my FI works with. He owns his own company and is a great guy we trust. However, he just got promoted to a sargent position so we aren't sure what his schedule would be and none of us will know for about a month.

We would still like to use him, but I also need to secure our date somewhere. I know October is a very busy month, but we are also getting married on a sunday afternoon. When did you ladies book your dj? Am I cutting it close or do I still have a few months?

we booked ours 14 months out. FI wanted to make sure we had this vendor. (LG entertainment)- he books failrly fast.

Most vendors do for October weddings- its the month Houston has "perfect" weather

Our DJ was super popular, so we emailed him originally about 10 months in advance, but then met to finalize everything about 9 months in advance. Our wedding was on a Friday evening, so I wasn't overly worried about people booking up.

If I were you, I'd at least do some research about who all would be willing to do a Sunday wedding. I had a friend recently get married on a Sunday and as it turned out, quite a few people were happy taking the loss of business than have to work on Sunday.

    Good luck!

My wedding is in March and we booked in September.  I researched a bunch of DJs and they all had availability 6 months out.  Hope that helps!

Posted by akg0053[/QUOTE] It's been the other way for me. I've found many vendors free for that day.

Thank you so much ladies! That really helps. To be honest, I am not to particular about who the dj is. I just want a reasonable price. I don't want to sound cheap, but I don't want to spend much. It just wasn't a priority for us. The good news is that my FI's coworker should find out his schedule sooner than expected so I should know something in the next few weeks.

Our wedding was October 2, and we booked LG in February/ March.

We piggybacked and got a great deal: $600 for 30 uplights and 4 hours of DJing because the DJ (Cesar) was already going to be at the venue later in the day for another wedding.  I suppose otherwise, he may have been booked for our date, but we were not SET on him particularly, just the deal, if that makes sense!

I would do it now. He had booked me without knowing he was already booked for that day :( so I'm now in search of a DJ! Do it now, what's the purpose in waiting, that would be another check off the list
