Hunstville Recommendations

Hey Fellow Brides!

We decided to have our venue at the Huntsville State Park. We however, live in College Station and do not really know a lot about the area. Does anyone have any recommendations for hair and makeup, vendors, etc for us? Anything would be great! We are super excited! Just need a little info on the area. Thanks so much in advance!

I live in Huntsville, and the selection is definitely limited on most aspects. I would say that you more than likely will have the best luck finding the majority of your vendors in the Woodlands.

However let me recommend some of the local businesses:
    1. Floral: There are only a few local dedicated florists, and I would recommended Heartfield Florists. When DH buys me flowers, it is usually from them. They are very nice, but I don't know about their prices.

    2. Food: If you want Mexican or BBQ catered, then you are good. There are tons of Mexican food places, but I have never been to one of their catering events. For BBQ I would recommend McKenzie's. I have been to three weddings that they catered and the food was always good. I also know that they provide servers so that you don't have to set anything up, they will do it for you.

    3. Salons: There are several hair salons in town, but the biggest is going to be Headquarters. I have never seen an updo done by them, but they do good work when it comes to basic cutting, coloring, and styling. However there are a number of other salons in town.

    4. Photographer: I would STRONGLY reccomend Sarah Ainsworth Photography as she graduated from SHSU, is very familiar with the area, and extremely talented.

    5. DJ: I honestly don't know of a single professional DJ in town. That will more than likely be something you will have to go to the Woodlands or Houston for.

If you have any questions about anything Huntsville related, feel free to ask either on here or you can email me PJS001@shsu.edu
And now we are as one

I grew up in Huntsville. Heartfields is the way to go for flowers. They are HANDS-DOWN the best in town. Trend Setters is great for updos. The ladies that work there are down-to-earth, friendly, accommodating, and fantastic at their work. IMO, Trenda is the best. Crystal is really good, as well, but they are all great. Spanki Mills is great for photos. She is actually located in Montgomery, but thats actually not that far from the state park. She has done photos for several of my friends' weddings, family portraits, engagements, etc, and she is truly phenomenal. McKenzies is good for BBQ. Margaritas is the closest for Mexican. For any additional info, try contacting the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce. They are very helpful! Hope that helps!

I lived in Huntsville for about 3 years and moved, but decided to have my wedding there at Magnolia Lake. They sometimes do open houses and they bring in vendors.

wedding cake- Cakes by Clair is great. Her cakes are moist and very flavorful and look amazing!
DJ- Barry Birdwell is very affordable, he does ceremony and reception.

As far as caterer, I wouldn't recommend mine. Having too many Issues but I think All Star catering is good option.

I'm having a professional make-up artist come in to do my hair and makeup, but she is too pricey for my girls, Do any of yall know of hairstylists that would do bridal party hair do on a Sunday morning?

My email is blanca_zuniga_127@msn.com if you want more info.Smile
  • Rachel Krueger-Florist-she is out of Magnolia but VERY reasonably priced... she is doing my flowers... way cheaper than any other here in Huntsville... and I'm having roses... which everyone else here told me they weren't budget friendly and quoted me double what Rachel is charging me.... Tell her Nicole Wells sent you!!
