Tipping Question - Retired Pastor

Hi!!  I know that normal protocol is to make a donation to the church of the person who is marrying you.  The pastor who is going to marry us actually just recently retired a few months ago....so what do I do now?  Do I make a donation to the church he was previously working at....do I just write a check to him directly????  Any ideas???....I know he's working on missions right now but I have no idea what or where.....

Thank you for any help!!  :0)

I'd just make the check out to him. Who cares if he gives to to the missions or he puts food in his fridge? lol.

To add to that question:  do you tip the pastor if you have to pay to use the church?  Does that fee include the pastor????

Normally the church usage is free....if it's one that you go to....but my assumption would be that it would probably be separate.  But I'm not sure, like say if it's a pastor that doesn't use that church it would be but if the pastor is the one at that church maybe it's included....

CLEARLY no help with that question lol.

Very true about the whole who cares where the money goes to, just wanted to make sure there wasn't some sort of protocol on that.  Works for me!!!

Thank you guys for your input!
