Venue Tears...and lots of them

Hello Ladies,

I am having a desperate time trying to find a venue. We have several factors weighing against us and I am being to lose hope.

Problem #1, my Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer SOOO we moved the wedding up from late October to March to ensure that he was able to attend the wedding. With his health, we have to try to stay indoors and ensure that he will be able to access the location. We looked at the firehouse in the heights but the room is on the second floor, so that knocks it out.

Problem #2, since we moved the wedding up our budget has decreased significantly. We are now looking at $2,500 for ceremony and reception. My dress, veil, and other good stuff is bought so those items are NOT factored in to the $2,500. I also have about $400 aside for some DIY favors, flowers, etc. We have another $1,000 ish allocated for photography. We have found that NOTHING in Houston is in our price range. Maybe I am just not looking at the right things but it is making me crazy.

Problem #3, two brides.  I found two historic locations I loved in Galveston, but the representative said she could not rent them out to LGBT. It broke her heart but they Archdioceses wouldn't allow it. It is the churches right to deny but it still broke my heart. The other affordable location in Galveston gave us a decent reception location but did not really help with the ceremony.

If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would really appreciate it.

P.S We are only having 50 people

Thanks,
Kate

Sorry this is happening. For your photographer, try Lori at www.savvycouturecreations.com. She's well under your $1k budget. That way, you'll have extra money for everything else. Hope everything works out.

I am so sorry! Everything will work out and everything will be beautiful. It will be so worth it for your dad it be there.

I would look into Thomas and Penelope Photography. I know they have a package around your price and they may be willing to work with you. So far we have had our engagement picuters done and absolutely love his work!

Did you try the Roof Garden in Galveston? My cousin got married there last year and she was on a budget.

I am so sorry to hear that! That is so tough. We were there a few years ago. Hang in there.

For photography I would reccomend C. Baron. You would need to book before the end of the year though. For under $1000 dollars we are getting a large portrait, engagement, wedding day, 100 photo cards, and the cd with printable rights. We are booking them later this week. If you chose to go with them, please let them know Lanie sent you.

For the venue, we are using Brady's Landing. I don't know what the lowest price for buffet is, but I know you can do it for under 3000. It's worth looking into. We love the venue, but I will say the person we talked to was a little difficult.

    Good luck!

I would suggest Kemah Gardens, prices are even cheaper on Monday-Thursdays, prices available online. Holds 48-50 guests

I just wanted to thank everyone again for the responses. We have visted a few places and are waiting for final quotes. Fingers crossed! We saw the Crowne Plaza and River Oaks, the Pelazzio and the Westlake Private Club. All of those seem to work with our modified buget, so I just keep praying! We had to add more money to the pot because it was nearly impossible to find anything. We will be living off crackers and soup for a week or two in Janurary but it should give us what we need to have a nice ceremony and reception.

Thanks again everyone, yall are awesome!
