Texas-Houston

Help with this idea for an out of town bride...,

Hi, I am doing out of town bags for my guests. I don't live in Houston so I need some things that are not too expensive but are Houston specific. I can also do Dallas and San Antonio because my fiance is a big fan of the Cowboys and the Spurs. I don't want it to be too expensive but I'm stumped. I was thinking of going to Sams Club to see what's available but they only have chips and gum :(

I am doing the same thing, but I haven't come up with anything that is really houston specific. I was thinking of making TX shaped cookies. Kind of silly, but that was all I came up with.
Also, I am going to Costco to get little trail mix bags, bottled water and couple things for the kids.

EDIT - we are getting deserts for the reception at a place called Rao's their sugar cookies are awesome and they do them in any shape

That sounds good. I'm going to go to Costco too and do the trail mix, bottled water, gum and maybe some advil stuff like that. But I'd like some chocolates OR maybe cookies in TX or Houston shapes or something TX related. I know my folks from NYC would love it.

You should pack a couple of St Arnold's Beer bottles in them (or their root beer) -- That's what we are doing. We're also having St Arnold's kegs at our wedding!

I would definitely some BBQ sauce. Something like Stubb's or Rudy's would be great. I think it is quintesentially Texan.

How about a pre-packaged chili seasoning mix? Another food item that I really think of when considering Texas.

I would also suggest some kind of beer. Either St. Arnold's like suggested above, or Shiner or Lonestar may be more easily accessible/cheaper.

I would also totally suggest some Dr. Pepper. I know when I visit my family in Western New York, it is rare to find more than a single row of Dr. P in a soda cooler.

Some pecan pralines and sweet tea could work really well too. Something sweet and southern

A good non-food item could be a package of Bluebonnet seeds (state flower). Kinda tacky, but kinda cute.

Postcards and a few maps could round out the whole bag. This website has a lot of "Texas" stuff to get ideas from http://www.texasfood.com/
And now we are as one

I love these posts. Unfortunately, it has to be something I can get in bulk at Sam's Club. I don't want to break the bank for these and seeing as each beer would cost at least $2 etc. I don't want to spend more than $3 a bag.
