July too hot for wedding?

We are just starting out on the wedding planning road.  We need to pick a date for sometime next year (summer)?  Is July way too hot for an outdoor wedding in late evening?

IMO, yes.  I wouldn't voluntarily sit outside in Houston in July for an extended amount of time.  Doing it for a wedding doesn't make it any better.  Especially in nice clothes.  All I picture is mosquitos, poofy hair, sweat, and being uncomfortable.

I'm anti-sweating though so maybe others will have a different opinion :)

I completely agree with mlewis. July here is like January up north. I would advise against an outdoor wedding at that time of the year. If the heat wasn't enough- remember it is also hurricane season..

If I were a guest, I would not want to attend an outdoor ceremony in July. I mean just this year it was like 100+ in July. Plus you would be more than likely be uncomfortable as well.
And now we are as one

July is too hot, I would think late September-early October would be okay, 20 min ceremony outdoor tops.

IMO yes. But, my friend got married in July 2 yrs ago and it was wonderful. Humid and hott, but you wont be outside for too long unless you have an outdoor wedding.

This yr we had a couple (friends of ours) get married on the hottest day of this yr in August. The ceremony was outdoors. I think, if it is going to be super hott, have something planned like hand fans or something cute. (if its outdoors)

As long as your ceremony is pretty short, I think you'll be ok.

We're having an outdoor ceremony next June, but it'll only be about 20 minutes.

Thanx ladies, I appreciate all the honest opinions.  Think I may think about late May or early September.

Yes, its too hot, even at night, even in May and June.  Maybe if you go for a super casual wedding - think light summer dresses and forget about tuxes or suits.  I would absolutely forewarn your guests the ceremony will be outdoors so they can dress appropriately too.

The heat will definitely take its toll on the elder family members, my great aunt would not be able to attend, if it were outside with her breathing problems...
