Pretty Marriage License

Hi ladies!  My FI and I live in Montgomery County.. and I know that marriage licenses look different county to county and I want to make sure we get a *really* pretty one.  We're willing to travel to nearby counties to apply (I know some people might find this absurd... but oh well... we're going to frame it).  Any insight on where to find a cute one?

Re: Pretty Marriage License

  • Wow... I didn't know there was a difference between counties. What makes a marriage license cute? Like colorful?

  • We live in Harris county, and  think that one looks nice. Not sure what you're looking for. I didn't know they were different either.

    We got married 11/3/12!!

  • Here's a picture of the Tarrant County ones.  My future SIL said the Harris County ones were plain... but that link is adorable!
I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't a plain looking one.

Umm... Don't you have to get the license in the county you're getting married in?

ETA: Apparently that's not true in Texas. Cool.

OP, why don't you get a Ketubah done? There are some designers on Etsy that could help you out. And you don't have to be Jewish.

  • OP, did your FSIL get married a few years ago? I think Harris County did just redesign them in the past few years...

  • She actually was married last year- but I haven't personally seen her license... so I can't be certain if they really are plain or not.  I've thought about a ketubah done.  MIL is Egyptian and in Coptic ceremonies the couple signs a document.. similar to ketubah.

Why not do that? Etsy has some amazing options. And then you can put your license in a fire proof box with your passports and ss cards.
