Raven Lodge - Huntsville State Park

Has anyone been to a wedding here? Or had one here? I came across this post on an awesome photographer's blog that I stalk, and the wedding looked beautiful. I think its only $300 to rent as well. If anyone has any other details they can send my way, let me know!! =)

I have been to the Lodge before and live in Huntsville. It is actually 250.00 to rent (Fri/Sat) or 150 (Mon-Thur) and then I think you pay 1.00 for every guest that enters the park since it is part of the state park.

It has private restrooms within the lodge, a complete kitchen, and is right on the lake that is in the park. It is really cute, and was built by the CCC in the 1930s.

However, it isn't the biggest place in the world. The indoor area is cute and quaint, but definitely not for a big wedding. The outdoor patio can hold more people, but still has its limits.

I almost used it for my wedding, but I was paranoid about having outdoor events with the unpredictability of Texas weather. If you are interested in it, I would strongly suggest you go out and look at it before you make an concrete decisions. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions.
And now we are as one

There was a wedding outside when I went canoeing there once. They had probably about 80 chairs set up and they had an arch and tons of flowers. It looked very nice, but I certainly didn't envy their guests wearing suits fanning themselves in the August heat! I'd definitely recommend a winter wedding if you choose this venue!

I looked at it as well. If you trust in the weather it would be gorgeous!!! It is $250.00 to rent plus one dollar per guest over the age of 13... The inside place is very small... I would suggest theresas place in Conroe... More expensive but they do it all for you... Huge gazebo that is absolutely gorgeous... Inside is beautiful. Very nice staff to work with. I'm having my wedding there in April. Sooo excited!! Good luck to ya!!

Those pics she has of the lodge are great! It is a beautiful venue, and I would love to just go there to be a guest of a wedding!
  • Love this place!  Does anyone know if you can have alcoholic drinks there, like champagne, wine, and beer (no liquor)? I know it's a state park so the rule, I think, is "not in public".. but I was thinking since you are renting it and they have the lodge, they would let you?!
  • I'm getting married there in April.  We were told that alcohol couldn't be visible, meaning that beer should be in koozies.  Our reception is going to be inside the hall so I'm not too worried about it but I would make sure that everyone knows not to walk outside the Raven Lodge area with alcohol.
  • This may be too late, but I'm looking into this venue as well. I've called a few times to ask about a few things. The employee that I spoke to said that you CAN have alcohol there, but it has to stay inside the lodge. No alcoholic beverages on the patio or courtyard. There is a pretty decent sized bar inside.
