Has anyone used Evoke?  Or going to use Evoke?  Maybe had an E or B session w/ them already?

I am just interested in your experience w/ them and how it turned out.. would you use again?

I've worked with them in the past and can't say I'm their biggest fan.  Their prices are reasonable, but you will never know what photographer you'll get.  The photographer you get for your E-sesh or B-sesh won't be the same as the wedding.  If you're okay with that, they go for it.  IMO, photography is one of the most important investments and I would not want to take a chance, not knowing if it will be a great photographer and someone I feel comfortable with.

I used them for my wedding in January.  They have been very easy to deal with - you mostly deal with one guy who seems to handle all the business related stuff.  We didn't do engagements because my brother-in-law is a starting out photographer in another city and took some for us.  I wasn't entirely happy with my bridals but I chose to do them in the studio and some turned out fantastic and others (mostly do to 1 background) wasn't so good.  They offered to redo them for me at no cost though.  I think they only have one guy who does engagements/bridals and I'm not sure if you can request someone else or not.  We were randomly matched with our wedding photographer and we asked to meet with him and see some of his work prior just to make sure we liked his stuff and thought he was a good match for us.  We instantly loved his personality and his thoughts about shooting a wedding.  He was great on our wedding day and took amazing pictures.  I couldn't be more pleased with his work.  They were also very quick to get our album layout together and printed for us.  I love the book.  We had one slight issue with one of the pages and they fixed it with no problem.  Overall, I was very pleased with their service and work.  Our wedding photographer was Kenzie.  I would use them again...but would be more specific about what I wanted in Bridals.  Hope this helps.

When in doubt...do without is my motto.  You shouldn't need to feel uncertain about entrusting your most important day to vendors you are unsure about.  Go with your gut instinct.

Have you gone and talked to Evoke yet?  If not, make an appointment to meet with them.  We had talked to several other photographers before meeting with them.  We met with them and it just felt right to us.  Talking to them and seeing their pictures and packages, we both decided it was Evoke we wanted to us.  Meet with them if you haven't and go from there.  But I agree that you need to trust your gut instinct.

THanks Mac!  Yes, I have met w/ them and it did make me feel like that was the right place for us, just concered b/c we are spending about 27% of our budget on photography and I really want the photography to be "perfect"... Neither FI or myself are really "photogenic" we both look way better in person which is why it was so important to us to find a good photographer that could help us w/ that.

Mac, have you had any sessions w/ them yet?

Thanks everyone for all the help, maybe I am just generally stressed b/c I feel like I am second guessing EVERYTHING... well not the actual getting married part.

If you're uncomfortable with Evoke, don't use them. You need to feel comfortable with your photographers - unease will come across in pictures!

We're going with Laughlin Photography. Joelyn and Doug are awesome and very reasonably-priced (laughlinphoto.com).

Also, Ron and Sue Adams (signaturephotos.net) are super nice and do beautiful work. They just were way out of our budget.

I met with them about a month ago. I liked some of their work and they were very friendly. I just felt a little uneasy not knowing who the photographer would be. I decided not to go with them. Even though they are pretty reasonable, you want to be sure about using them. In the end, all you'll have are you photos to re-live your beautiful day. You'll want those to be perfect. I decided to go with Raheem at RH Photo Arts. He is reasonable and very good at what he does. Check him out at http://www.rhphotoarts.com/.

I met with them several months ago and was NOT impressed. I was actually quite put off by their attitudes. First off, as others have mentioned, you don't know what photographer you are going to get. What if you don't like the guy/gal? When I asked if it would be possible to do things like see a sample of work from the photographer I would work with, maybe set the slideshow to my own music, add an extra photographer for an hour or so.....all of the answers to ALL of my quesions were "Well, traditionally that's not how we do things here." It was at that point I decided not to use them. I ended up getting 2 photographers for 8 hours, rights to all of my full sized photos, huge bridal portrait, bridal, enagement and wedding day all for LESS than what I would have paid Evoke for much less than that. As you can tell, they left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I would highly discourage you from using them. I ended up using MiaBella Photography and have been beyond happy with them!

Klicker - If you've got some time, you can check out other suggestions of photographers and see what you think of their work and prices.  I know picking a photographer can be stressful...or at least it was for me.  If you want more of a relationship with your photographer than Evoke might not be for you.  LIke I said before, they assigned us someone but we asked to meet with them to make sure we were on the same page and they had no problem with that.  We met with Kenzie and then I talked to him one other time.  I sent a list of pictures I wanted and went over that with him before the wedding.  We didn't have a lot of interaction with the photographer himself but I've had some contact with Evoke as a whole.  They've done all they can to make us happy.  I am beyond happy with how my wedding pictures turned out and how our ablum turned out.  If you decide to go with Evoke, just make it known that you want to meet with your photographer to make sure you're all on the same page about personalities, ways they shoot, etc.  They told us we could change if we didn't like our photographer after meeting him. I seem to be in the miniority of how people feel about them but in the end you need to do what you want and feel is best for you.  Hope all this helps.

My fiend used Evoke for ehr wedding this year and we just saw video and photos albums. the albums was great and photography was well done, but I was not impressed with her weddign video, it was way too short and there were some awkard positioning of the camera at the ceremony. to me it was unacceptable.

I have met with Evoke for my wedding(prior to seeing my friends vdieo and pictures) and didn't think they were a match for me. So I am using someone else. I think this is one of the biggest "investment" of your wedding so you want to be totally comfortable you are getting what you want.
