Wedding Coordinator Advice

My question is to those who have had or are using a wedding coordinator for the full planning of your wedding. How long did you have to wait from the time you placed your deposit until you started shopping for venues?   Here is my situation.  I deposited with my coordinator 1 month ago.  Since then we have had one meeting to discuss wedding stuff.  She promised to draft a budget and send it to me in 1 week, but that's not done yet. We have not even started looking at venues.  Is this normal??

My coordinator was on the ball from the time I signed an Agreement & made a deposit. Based on my consultation, she had already pinpointed four possible venues & provided recommendations & costs based on our budget. We signed on like a Tuesday & by Thursday I had the venue information I needed. My coordinator is "day of" not even a full wedding planner & she hit the ground running! Is your coordinator with a professional firm or more of a start up type (has done 1 or 2 weddings)? Do you have a contract that perhaps can help shed some light on what exactly she does & how soon?

May I ask who each of these coordinators is?

Any recommendations for reasonably priced planners?

My 'day of' cooridinators was April and Jamie with Events Fabuleaux . . . My budget and venue was a little bit unreasonable (super cheap) and they were FANTASTIC!  Made my $2200 wedding look and feel like a $10K wedding!

I hired them as a "Day Of' only and already had the venue issues taken care of so I can't comment on that but the way she handled my wedding, the reflection of her professionalism and creativity, She could pull off anything and exceed your expectations.

    Hopes this helps.

To my fellow Knottie (newmfbr) that asked who my "Day Of" coordinator that has worked with me from the beginning is Sallie at:

    Monarch Wedding & Event Planning

I did my homework very well, got several quotes from wedding coordinators & found her to be very reasonably priced.  Many of the other "Day of" coordinators were offering less work for a lot more money.

I have a wedding planner planning my full wedding and she has hit the ground running, despite the wedding not being for another year and a half and she started with is over a year ago.  I told her that we were having a long engagement so we could get everything we really wanted, and she totally understood.  In our first meetings, she gave me my budget (Thank God, b/c I'm not good with that at all) and she has already worked with our venue coordinator (Venue that is super hard to book) to make sure it is held aside for our date.  She is excellent!  Her name is Katherine and she is with Houston Event Planning at Signature Manor.  Let me know if you need more info for her, because she has truly been a gem in this entire process!

I did not think I was going to use a wedding coordinator, but from what I am hearing, even a DIY wedding could greatly benefit from a good coordinator, to get the loose ends tied up, and cut through any stress!
  • Events by Doyin (www.eventsbydoyin.com)is who i used.  They hit the ground running a few days after i signed the contract.  They are also reasonably priced and also pass down discounts from their vendors to you.
  • My friend used Kayleigh from Lovely events and had only good things to say. She used her day-of services, not full out planning... so I'm not sure how that's supposed to go. We contacted her about planning (haven't signed anything yet though) and she was really prompt.

Hope that helps and sorry your planner is slacking!! :(
