Hotel Reception

Hi Future/New Brides!
I need a little help.  We are getting married in Deer Park but since our wedding is looking like it will be early and so many of our guests are from out of town I want to have our reception at a hotel downtown, That way out of town guests who want to go out can, and it has a little more to offer than Deer Park (unless I'm missing something here).  We are trying to keep it around a 35 minute drive. I'm hoping I'm not being unreasonable having the two that distance apart and I feel like I may be missing hotels, and I want to be able to compare them and keep the price reasonable since we are paying ourselves.  Any suggestions?

*We also have plenty of time we haven't sent a date yet we are looking at possibly late july next year though

I have brides that have that kind of a distance between the ceremony and reception all the time.  Something to keep in mind though...because your guest will also have to travel and so will you, this may eat in your picture taking time following the ceremony (I am a wedding photographer). You won't want to keep your guests waiting a long time, so I would suggest doing all your formal photographs before the ceremony so your guest will be waiting a minimal amount of time.  Cheers!

if you're looking downtown, we booked ourselves a night of hotel room at the zaza and as soon as I mentioned that we'd need to drop our bags off in the morning because we're coming straight after the wedding they went to a lot of trouble to give us extras. I know some people who had their reception in the restaurant and it was lovely. not sure how pricey it is, though. probably depends on your guestlist and what exactly you want.

HOTEL DEREK - Just looked at the place last week and did some research.  She quoted me $10,800 for a ceremony and reception of 120 guests on a friday. includes EVERYTHING BUT the DJ.  It even includes a wedding cake by Who Made the Cake. It also includes a free GIANT suite for brida and groom (can check in at 1pm day of wedding to get ready) and the rooms for your out of town guests can be booked into a block at only $99/night which is unheard of in the Galleria or Downtown areas, super cheap.

Check them out :-) Tanya Smith is the coordinator there, she's super nice. If you go, make an appointment first,  tell her I sent ya if you go over there.
