I made a 12 X 12 photo book with our engagement pictures on Shutterfly.  There's lots of white space so my plan is to have the guests write little messages, kind of like a yearbook.

we got married on cape cod - so we bought a book of scenic photos of cape cod and had the guests sign that. i like the pp idea - seems so much more personal!

Do something you can keep or display in your home instead of sticking on a shelf and never see again.

Examples: Have guests sign a photo mat, winebottle, etc. I also love polaroid guestbooks and all versions of this idea.

Since our wedding theme is spring/trees/leaves/love birds, I bought a large print of a bare tree on etsy and we're having guests sign adhesive-backed leaves and sticking them onto the tree branches. The leaves are in various green shades and will give a lot of dimension to the overall look. We even have two love birds perched on the middle branches of the tree and our intials carved in the tree trunk. I plan to have this in an open (glassless) frame during reception and then later hanging this "guestbook" in our home. I think this look goes well with our theme and is unique. We're calling it our signing tree.

I'm doing colorful index cards, having them sign and leave a message then insert into a "mail box" type of thing :)

    I really don't want a "traditional" guestbook.

I have seen the idea of using poloroid and the guests sign the photo as they come in- now you could have someone taking pitcutes of your guests and printing out immediately for them to sign

Some fun new trends and classic trends:

As PP mentioned, you can have a book made of your engagement pics {or any pictures of you and FI} and go to www.blurb.com. Personally, I think their quality is much better and you have more options.

Fingerprint Tree:  I think these links will better explain instead of me describing them:

I am doing my  guest book on blurb.com.  The software is super easy. you just drag and drop your photos and customize it however you want! I love the way it looks so far and I have heard the quality is amazing. def for the price! It's definitely not your average guest book. : ) .

I do love the polaroid idea!

I love the idea of doing something that you can display in your home after the wedding! I've seen ideas where guests signed the back of puzzle pieces. I'm sure you can get a large photo of you two created into a puzzle. I'm doing a wishing tree draped in crystals. I created elegant tags that each guest can write their "wish" for us on and hang on the tree.

Brides these days are coming up with very creative ideas that also look great!

I was going to use our engagement pictures in a photobook as well. But I really wanted a photobooth so we got one. The guest will take pictures and place a copy in a customized scrapbook and keep one for favors. I believe it will make our reception more entertaining! I agree I do believe the old traditional scrapbook is a waste of time and money!

  • For our wedding we did a photo album of all our guests using custom scrapbook pages! It was so easy and we have an awesome keepsake now! All the guests wrote little responses to the questions on the pages and it was so fun to read their responses!!
