cake vendor recommendations in houston??

cake is fairly important to us... although we don't want to spend over a $1000 for it. 

any recommendations for a budget friendly cake vendor? expecting about 260-270 guests.

We are going with Who Made The Cake. We are going to spend somewhere around $850 for 175 guests.

We chose Cakes Houston in Spring. Our cake {plus free 10" round groom's cake} was about $300 for 100 people. I think they were $2.65/slice which is the cheapest I found. AND they are DELICIOUS!!! Their number is 281-251-4429... YES, I have them saved in my phone! lol

We just did all our cake tastings, decided to go with Edible Designs by Jessie. I am a cake freaaaak, and this is the only place of the 4 we went to that had satisfactory buttercream. I'm just not a huge fan of French buttercream, I prefer the more sugary version

Anyway, cake was delicious, icing great, and it wasn't too heavy. We are getting a 3 tier buttercream cake w/ a 4th fake tier and a groom's cake (sheet cake with fondant), to serve about 160 ppl, for $975.

Edible Designs by Jessie!  It was by far our favorite from the few cake tastings we did. Our cakes turned out wonderfully and were oh so tasty too!

We got married Sept 2011, For Heavens Cake was our cake vendor, had one dummy tier, 3 tiers with 2 favors, total $550. Would recommend them, you can even return dummy tier and get $60 refund. The guests loved the cake, it tasted really good, we had cake-tasting meeting with owner Rick, he was very friendly and answered all of our concerns, the cake was delivered on time, no problems.
