Hi ladies! So I've been on here and posting for a couple of months by now, but haven't done a proper introduction...I was just so anxious to get your awesome advice! So here's "us" and our checks!
My fiance and I grew up together in Kansas. My first kiss was actually his best friend in junior high! We met at a birthday party where I knocked him in the head with a pool stick.."accidentally" of course. We held hands once on a band trip back in probably 1997. We dated my last year of high school (99-00) and were totally in love. We went to different colleges and knew it would end badly if we tried to force it, so we went separate ways, but stayed friends. We eventually lost touch. In 2005 after a bad breakup, I finally got the nerves to get in touch with him...I called his dad to get his number! We started talking right away, and that was that! I was in Oklahoma, and he was in Colorado, but we made it work, even when I moved to England for a year. We moved to Boston together in 2006, got engaged in March 2009 (sunset over the mountains in Vermont), and moved to Houston last May. We've been here almost a year, and love it. We've had a long road together, and we were always each other's "one that got away." I feel so lucky to get to marry him!
So, CHECKS for our September 18th wedding:
Venue (The Orchard at Caney Creek...love it!), STD are mailed (most of them), cake, photographer, invitations picked but not ordered, bachelorette party/bridal shower planned by my awesome MOH, my shoes (found some awesome cheap ones that I can wear for work or whatever if i find something else I like better), my dress ordered and will be here by June (after many tears and trying on over 100). That's about it for the big stuff!
What's next: signing the contract with the DJ (LG Entertainment, but we're having communication problems), finding a ceremony musician (preferably a harp), booking a honeymoon (all-inclusive in Caribbean probably...suggestions for nice but not mega-huge resorts would be appreciated), registering (today maybe), and bridesmaids dresses (3 of 4 will probably be pregnant, so will be tough).
Sorry for the long post! You ladies are awesome, and I don't know what I would do without you.
