Vent~ Whose wedding is this anyway?

This is sort of a continuation from i2012do's vent about the lack of a/c. Where do people come off giving the unsolicited comments? Wouldn't you think that your friends and family would be ecstatic for you planning your wedding. I am sure I am not the only one on here who have been bucked in every aspect of planning so far. I am so tired of people saying 'why are you doing that'. Also I despise the word 'fine'. Can't someone just say 'wow, what a great idea' for once? FI and I are paying every last cent of this wedding ourselves so why can't people just keep their mouths shut if they don't have anything positive to say? I am so over this process. Has anyone gotten the 'I'm not going if so an so is going'? Really people, grow up. It's not your day, it's ours. Oh and our guests are notorious for commenting 'all the way in Narragansett'. This coming from people living in Cranston, Johnston, Warwick. You know what people, don't come. I could care less at this point. Haha wait until they find out there is no ac at our venue either.

Ahhh! I think its just a venting week over here on this board. Which feels great actually. Maybe its just that all of us summer brides are getting ready and down to the wire and it seems like people are chiming in left and right.
I have for mnths been trying to think of a short quip or some kind of something to say that nips people's rude comments in the butt- but alas, I haven't come up with anything/

I'm not so worried about the AC thing, I'm not even going upstairs utinl 7pm and its night time, and it will be breezy. WE got the "its far thing" from our parents ad my mom said now she has to make "special arrangments " to stay ina  hotel down there- but she got over it.

I think at the end of hte day you just have to think that when a lot of people give their opinions its based on what they would do for their own wedding, or their child's and a lot of time they don't see that its basedon you and your preferences.

I'm sorry to all you Rhode Islander's out there (I'm one of them!)....but EVERYTHING is a far drive to us!!! lol - I mean going 30 minutes out of your way, people complain!  I am getting married in Newport and the people who live in Cranston, Johnston, Seekonk are all like "Well I guess we'll have to get a hotel if we are going to stay, did you book any reasonable hotels?" when I booked 2 within walking distance of my venue.  Yes they are a bit on the high side, but hello - it's Newport!  If you are going to get into your car, you might as well just go home!  I'm not going to do a room block at Howard Johnson, the rates are low enough there, I booked the hotels because if you want to stay over, might as well walk to the hotel.  People love to hear themselves talk I feel so they come up with ridiculous things to say and it's mostly hurtful because as the bride, we are trying to plan this most fabulous day for everyone we love to celebrate with us, and they are making snarky comments that hurt our feelings.

well I might as well jump on the bandwagon here. everything and everyone has been pissing me off lately. except for FI which I guess is good. haha. my mom - his mom - my MOH - everyone. i don't care if anyone comes anymore. ppl need to change their tune. we are trying to put on a nice party. my parents came to visit this weekend and they walked to ABC - our venue. I think they need to justify to themselves it will be OK. I also want to mention that my dad is also being good about stuff like FI - but all the women in my "wedding life" are driving me nuts. my parents then walked to the viking - the other venue we were looking at. (my parents are paying for the wedding, I should mention) and my mom just let me have IT. OMG. she bashed everything about the venue - now she also said it was WAY too expensive when we were looking at it and told us we shouldn't have it there. so we did some research into vendors we wanted and we decided that yes - the viking would eat our budget and we wouldnt have the $$$ for the vendors we knew we wanted. but did she really have to DIG at it again. "I don't know ANYONE that would be comfortable there" "why would you even think of doing it there" OMG kill me now. I practically had to restrain FI from across the table. my dad on the other hand just goes- its to totally different feels. thanks dad, nice try. UGH. ppl are driving me insane. we are also now having a raw bar at the wedding because my parents think it will jazz up the cocktail hour. sure. so i wasnt crazy about the idea at first - let my parents know I wasnt - but decided that it would be a good idea for ppl visiting RI and our venue is on the beach and all. my parents said they would add $$$ to the budget for this if we wanted it. SO i tell her yesterday we are going to do it -shes upset! im like whats wrong- we are going to have it - I thought you wanted it. now mind you, she doesnt want to pay for it and didnt think I would actually say yes. well HA we are doing it now just to spite you. ugh. I can't win.

I agree Rhode Islanders if it isn't a 10-15min drive we have to pack a lunch! lol.

I agree that everyone has to put their two cents in your wedding....I have heard so many damn comments from people, especially my FMIL, that I wish I could tell them where to go. i2012do I have also been thinking about what to say back to people, but haven't come up with anything either.

I am already wishing that July was here and I can get this over with and just enjoy the day. I feel like telling people it is our day, not yours so stop complaining about the food, or how hot it is going to be! I am probably going to be the hottest one that day with my 10 million layers underneath my dress!

so far, the worst and most hurtful comments have come from my FFIL of all people!!
