Venue Options

I'm trying to brainstorm some places to look at while we're in town, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

We want:
*Private use of the facility - no public access where people can walk by (like parks, hotels, etc.)
*Outside catering allowed
*Outdoor ceremony site with view of the water
*Can accomodate up to 200 guests

Thoughts?  We've got our hearts set on Blithewold, but I want to have other options.  That's our ideal, though, so something similar that I haven't thought of would be appreciated.

Hm.. this was a tough venue one.

Aldrich- but you will be in two separate rooms
    Regatta place and Belle Mer
    Squantum
That's all I got, and usually I love this game

EDIT: Scratch regatta and squantum I got carried away you can't do outside catering there.

Glen Manor House (my fav venue in all of RI-check it out youll fall in love).. fits the bill completely 100% though!

Belle Mer doesn't allow outside catering either.

Easton's Beach Ballroom: It hit on all your requests, expect for the privacy part.  The beach is public, but since the Ballroom is up high, non-guests can't wander up there.  It's also one of the cheaper Newport options

What about a tent at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol?

My criteria was 200 guests and outside catering. I didn't consider the privacy part as long as our wedding was the ONLY wedding hosted in that time slot. I also preferred a modern venue, kinda a blank space.

Easton Beach fit the bill. I also came across some other unique venues like the loft space at Hope Artiste Village, the tent for the Roger William Botanical Garden, International Yacht Restoration School, Herreshoff Marine Museum and the ultra sleek Global Heritage Hall at Roger William University. Most of these venues (except the Botanical Garden) are not on people's radar but they have great potential and are generally less expensive. I really LOVE Global Heritage Hall...

    Hope Artiste Village

RWU Global Heritage Hall (Fits your criteria)

    IYRS (Fits your criteria)

Herreshoff Marine Museum (Fits your criteria)

If you want pictures of real weddings from the venues above, let me know. I have a few of em.

Royal Orient, thanks!  Those are some unique ideas I hadn't thought of before.  They're definitely worth looking at!!!

Thanks ladies, some great ideas!  I had originally ignored Glen Manor since everyone would have to sit in different rooms, but it's worth a look.

Be careful with Blithewold. Very, Very strict. It's like they are doing you a favor for letting you have your reception there. Glen Manor in Portsmouth is perfect. Do you have a caterer in mind yet?Check out Decadent Catering they are great to work with. Budget friendly.
