Helene's Bridal...rant long!

Normally, I don't like to post about experiences, BUT I was just wonder if anyone has had an awful experience with Helene's Bridal in East Providence, more so with the alterations.

Me and my girls went yesterday so we could pick up their dresses. Well when I bought them in the first place they assured me that these dresses were being made to their body measurements. They came in and they were tents! Absolutely huge! So the alterations started and the seamstress was not listening at all what we wanted! It was horrible! She kept sighing and groaning and walking out of the room. And she kept jabbing the girls with the pins. Also I had to order an extra piece of fabric to cover one of my girls cleavage which cost me an extra $20 and they couldnt find it! Talk about organized!

Then its time to make a 2nd fitting appointment and she wants me to come in the day before my wedding! I told her 4 times when the wedding was, again, she refused to listen! Then she asked about this Saturday and I told her I work the weekends and it is impossible for me to get it off since I have already taken so much time off. She again, wouldn't budge.

Normally I'm pretty passive but with 2 1/2 weeks to the wedding, I am losing my patience very quickly and I definitely almost went bridezilla on her ass. But I took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. I think next time we go I'm having a drink beforehand!

Anyone else have an experience from there that you would like to share??? Please?? To make me feel not alone! =(

I've never been, so I can't say one way or the other.  But when I was dress shopping, I was AMAZED at how awful some of the places were.  I had bad experience at Ana's, but I didn't purchase anything from them, so maybe they make up for it in other places.

Hope things improve! I had my first fitting on Friday, and don't go back until August 6 for an August 14 wedding - fingers crossed!

It is amazing! You'd think these people would be more respectful considering I just dropped $400 in their store and they would do what we were requesting. Unreal...Its not like I wanted her to jump around and do the chicken dance! I just wanted the dresses to fit nicely..

Uh -Oh.  I bought my dress and my BM dresses on Helene's!  My first fitting is on Saturday so I really don't have much to say about alterations, but the shopping experience was amazing, very accomodating and helpful.  I was upset about a trunk show discount that I couldnt' get applied to my $2,000.00 dress which pi$$ed me off, but they did give my girls 15% off their dresses and offered me 1/2 off accessories, so it could have been worse.

I have my fingers crossed for Saturday hopefully this turns out well.

I am a little nervous now. I found a Tara Keely dress I wanted to try on and Helene's is the only local shop that carries the full line of that collection.

We got my bridesmaids dresses at Helene's and altered as well. No problems on my end. Ashley alwas helped us and was awesome. The seamstress is a bit gruff but she got the job done. I hope your experience improves.

You could always just take the dress elsewhere for alterations if that seems to be the biggest service issue there.

I had a dismal experience when looking for my dress and the BM's dresses at Helenes (and Ana's too for that matter!).  But then again you've read my serious issues with Wishing Well from the Aug. 2k10 board so it just seems like 6 of one, half dozen of the other with all of these shops in RI :(
