Inexpensive DJ for RI

I am starting to contact DJ's and all are outrageously priced (in my opinion). One said 900 for the 6 hours. Another was 200 per hour... Does any one kow of any that are cheap but good. We really cannot afford 1000 dollars for our music. 500 is even pushing it, but I'm sure we can't get away with less than 600? I hope....!

    A few years ago a friend used Charlie's DJ, I'm not sure which person actually DJ'd at the wedding, but he was nice, and I think he did a good job.   I think the price was around $500 (and that was for the entire night, starting around 5pm and going until midnight).

    (I had emailed the company when I started planning in 2009, I just checked and the quote was $475 for 4 hours).

    When I was looking for a DJ, I just emailed a whole bunch of them and said this is what I can spend, can you do it?  And several lowered their priced by hundreds of dollars.  I ended up going with Susanne from Moondance and she was great!  More than 500, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
