Newport bachelorette party

I'm not from the area...  My friend wants to do her bachelorette party THIS weekend in Newport.  I heard this is kind of off-season for Newport, so I was wondering if anyone could send suggestions on some antique shops, restaurants (good for breakfast, and others for dinner), and night-life type places (mainly lounges or a mix of a lounge/dance club) if you know of any!  Then I plan to call in the next few days to check they're open.  I really appreacite it!

Re: Newport bachelorette party

  • First things first: you'll want to find a hotel with availability. It's true this is the "shoulder" season for NPT, but it's starting to get warmer which means it is starting to get more crowded. Once you have the hotel narrowed down, then you can figure out what's in walking distance. I'd recommend The Marriott, The Viking Hotel, or Newport Harbor Hotel. All are right smack down town and easy access to everything. Consequently, it'll be more expensive.
For breakfast I'd recommend the Corner Cafe. It's on Broadway, and a little hole-in-the-wall spot but reasonably priced and a great selection. Seating's tight, though. If you don't mind a short drive, on Sundays Atlantic Beach Club has a breakfast buffet for $15/person that's heavenly.
For dinner it again depends on where you stay, but some of my favs are Red Parrot, Busker's, Yesterday's, or Sardella's.
For a mix lounge/dance club I'd definitely recommend checking out Christie's. It's on Lower Thames street with great martini specials. Or The Landing. Pretty much if you focus your search around Thames Street and the Wharfs along America's Cup Blvd you won't be disappointed!!
    Have fun!
